THE WORLD'S
THE REGIONS
The Highlands are the northernmost province of Avalance and are often thought of as desolate by southerners. Where one day, long ago, the lands were covered by ice, the northern Highlands are now the only part of Avalance that are snowy and frozen outside of winter. From the snow-covered lands next to the Frozen Abyss to the plains that border the Glade in the south, the Highlands are known for their harsh living conditions. The people are unrelenting and know no other than winter and the eternal cold.
The Glade consists of a wetland area in between the Highlands and the Crownlands. There are many rivers and lakes to be found here, along with marshes and swamps. Sapphire Keep, the capital city, lies in the centre of the largest lake in Avalance, which only proves how much the people here know of the waters and how to use them properly to their advantage. The winters here can be fairly cold, while the summers are mild except for the southern parts of the region. The Glade can be treacherous terrain to any who is not accustomed to it.
The most fertile lands in all of Avalance are found here and thus most grains and fruit are grown in the Evergreen. As such, its cities are rich and strong within the trading routes. The beautifully green and lush areas attract visitors from all over the land, as well as those from Lavarr. Its people are often welcoming, knowing well that tourism and export are what keeps them going. The warm winds from across the ocean keep the temperatures in the Evergreen pleasantly warm and the hills and forests a lush green and golden colour. Winters are never very harsh in the Evergreen.
Home to the Dragon Kings, the Crownlands is the most densely populated province of Avalance. The landscape namely exists of lush fields, golden hills and green forests, and these are only second to the Evergreen in their fertility. Being the land of royalty, naturally, this attracts the wealthiest Lords and Ladies, making every castle and city a sight to behold. However, none is as magnificent as the capital, Dragonwatch, underneath which a dragon used to sleep. From the woods of the Green Antler to the blackened isles in the south, all know the tales of the dragonrider Kings.
The island to the south-east of the main continent of Avalance is called Ashax. No longer physically connected to the mainland, it recently became independent during the war. Known for its hot wastelands, Ashax is a challenging place to live, except for the Stormy Edge and the lands near the Jade Run and the Blue Moon Spring. It's capital, Asherah, is one of the oldest cities in Avalance and its rich colours stand out against the Burning Heights behind it. Being closest to Yax'in, Ashax is the Kingdom that trades with the southern continent.
Ofcourse our land is not the only land in the world, while we only focus our RPG on the land of Avalance, there are two continents bordering Avalance on the western and on the southern shores. The continent to the west is called Lavarr, where the first inhabitants of Avalance originally came from. Yax’in are our southern neighbours, a land of which currently very little is known.
