ASHAX

The island to the south east of the main continent of Avalance is called Ashax. While no longer physically connected to the mainland, it is still one of the provinces of the Kingdom. Known for its hot wastelands, Ashax is a challenging place to live, except for the Stormy Edge and the lands near the Jade Run and the Blue Moon Spring. It's capital, Asherah, is one of the oldest cities in Avalance and its rich colours stand out against the Burning Heights behind it. Being closest to Yax'in, Ashax is the only province that directly trades with the southern continent.

On the Isle known as Ashax there is a wide variety of fauna that is not seen on the mainland of Avalance. Here you will find predators such as crocodiles, snakes, genets and lynxes throughout the land and mountain reaches. Down in the Burn and the Fiery Wilds you will find wild goats, lemurs, flamingos, red deer and lizards. In the skies roam eagles, western swamphen, gulls, and Iberian Magpies.

The land itself is quite barren thanks to the ever shining sun, though around the watersides you will find quite some luscious plants like the bougainvillea, belladonna, foxglove, jasmine, and laurel. Esparto grass flourishes on the sandy soil.

The people of Ashax are quite laid back and not afraid to postpone event until the next day, or the next. They are known to take a break on the middle of the day, when the sun is highest, because of the heat. The people here know how to hold a party and often are dressed in very colourful clothing. They do not understand the rushed and cold behaviour of the people up north and are very open and hospitable to visitors. While very friendly in times of peace, they are fierce warriors when met on the battlefield. Their fighting style is more focussed on agility and swiftness instead of brute force.

House Illeon is descendant to the Old Kings, the first men who came to Avalance. When the First City flooded and the last of the Old Kings was taken by the sea, his daughter, Asherah, took the people with her to Ashax and eventually founded a new city there. To unite all of Ashax, she married the Lord Salvador Illeon, and thus the history of House Illeon as we know it today begun. While more peaceful than House Freyr in the Highlands founded by Asherah's brother, House Illeon still hold on to their claim of the throne. Because of this, the Highlands and Ashax are often in war with each other and there have been a few failed attempts to take the throne from House Yldirn and House Aldyr as well.
