THE CROWNLANDS

Home to the Dragon Kings, the Crownlands is the most densely populated province of Avalance. The landscape namely exists of lush fields, golden hills and green forests, and these are only second to the Evergreen in their fertility. Being the land of royalty, naturally this attracts the wealthiest lords and ladies, making every castle and city a sight to behold. However, none is as magnificent as the capital, Dragonwatch, underneath which a dragon sleeps. From the woods of the Green Antler to the blackened isles in the south, all know the tales of the dragonrider kings.

Fauna closely resembles that of the Evergreen. In the woodland areas of the Green Antler you will find some bears, while mountain lions take refuge in the Red Rise. Within the Green Antler there are animals that come from the northern parts of the Glade, including unicorns, martens, boar and otters. Only foxes and coyote's live as hunters out on the planes. These grassy fields are the home to many wild horses, gophers, badgers, rabbits, deer, and raccoons. The skies are filled with numerous birds, but best known are the eagles, hawks, teals and sparrows, which make the sky theirs, besides the fire dragons of course.

From the hillside to the mountains, bordered by forests and filled with rich green lands, it is obvious why the king choose this land as his own. Many different kinds of grasses grow in these valleys like june grass, Indian grass and foxtail. Wildflowers thrive in these lands including asters, milkweed, clovers, and wild indigos. Trees like oaks, cottonwoods and willows can be found along the riversides.

The people of the Crownlands often feel elevated above those of the other provinces, because of their proximity to the crown. Among them are the wealthiest, but also the poorest of Avalance. Many people here seek to gain power and status and work their way up the social ladder. They are a proud folk, often setting trends for the rest of the kingdom to copy. Their armies are among the best in Avalance, and certainly the best paid.

House Aldyr started its reign when the old line of Yldrin ended with the death of the Bone Sorcerer King, Arenon Yldrin, which was also the end of the New Kings of Avalance. Many of the Aldyr bloodline share the dragonriders blood and almost all of them have an affinity towards fire dragons, as the dragon rode by Eleahra Daleros is of the fire kind. Most of the people in Avalance believe in the Dragonfaith, causing them to believe the dragonriders of House Aldyr are chosen by the gods. Besides that, one would be a fool to attack Dragonwatch when Sunchaser is still lurking in its depths, waiting to be woken and take to the skies again.
