Come with me, where the moon is made of goldthe moon
Elara had never been able to see the way the people around her saw, yet she was told that she could see so much more. Her eyes simply weren’t made for this world. Yunuen had created her in His image, a child of the night. Sometimes, Elara wondered if she wasn’t allowed to see because he couldn’t either. Whether it was the same loneliness that had driven him to create His children, that had found a way to keep them loyal. Or maybe His reason was far more noble. Perhaps He did not want her to see the ugly of the world, instead being able to see all of His creations.

No matter what, Elara had lived a joyous life. She had been treated kindly by everyone around her, having a place to live and people who cared for her. She could sing and dance and often managed to sneak out during the night to see the world at its best. The light of a thousand stars blurred together in the sky, the moon the brightest of them all.

At times, it seemed like House Freyr wasn’t blessed by the Gods. How they had lost their father and now, their sister too. She wondered if an old friend was doing okay, someone who had changed so much due to the loss of someone important to him. She couldn’t help but worry about him and after hearing about his return, she had made her way to the castle. Being a priestess raised in the city, she knew what to say to be allowed into the castle halls. After all, why would they ever refuse the girl who simply wanted to share Yunuen’s light?

A soft knock on the door sounded as Elara stood in front of it, almost being swallowed by the big, white, fluffy cape she wore to protect her from the cold. To someone whose sight would be as bad as hers, she’d expect that she looked like a short, friendly ghost roaming their halls. But the people here knew better and she could only hope that her old friend would too, even this late at night.
And in the morning sun we'll be sailing

Cear Scion, it felt like home. It would always feel like home. How hard he fought to find his place in Wineport, it wasn’t compared to this. After weeks of being locked, trying to find his strenght in recovery again they sailed back home. Jupiter had welcome the harsh wind and the colder temperatures gladly. To see his brother back, to lay eyes on the little baby Mercury, it all made him forget he almost lost his life. But the good never came without the bad. Even with him being so injured there wasn’t much place for him to smile. The north was suffering, starving, and more than anything else he had received the news that his little sister Nox died. It felt like a stab in the shoulder all over again. Why her? Why couldn’t it just be him?

Jupiter did what they expected him to do. He pulled himself back, found comfort in the silence while he tried to mourn the loss of Nox. There had been nobody who was closer to her then he had. And he didn’t need the story surrounding her death. The question kept going around in his head. Why did he get the chance to live?

His blue eyes focused on his bare shoulder. To the large burn marks on both sides that would stain his skin forever. As he looked down to his fingers he always felt that tingling. He had hoped that he would be healed enough to be at his brother’s side but it wasn’t. He couldn’t move his arm without feeling the pain. And yet he pushed through as every Freyr would. The knock on the door distracted him from his wound as he grabbed his shirt and walked towards the door. He gritted his teeth as he tried to put in on, half succeeding as he pulled the door open with his good arm. ‘Elara.’ He sounded surprised. Once upon a time, they had been close with one another but the death of his father and his marriage to Ophelia tore that right in two. He studied her face for a second before he forced out a smile. ‘Come in,’ he opened the door a little more like an invite. ‘It’s been a while.’ And that was all on him. He knew that and if he could, he would do it all over again. That was just who he was. For that he hated himself.

Come with me, where the moon is made of goldthe moon
The skyseers and priests had tried to tell her that she was above human connections. They had often asked her why Yunuen wasn’t enough for her, to which she’d argue that it wasn’t that simple. Yunuen gave her strength and He would always be by her side, but he was not the only one she could care for. If anything, she felt like Yunuen gave her the strength to care for others too. She had always been an empathic kind, the girl to see the truth in your eyes. Maybe it was part of her connection to Yunuen, to be able to read between the lines. Whatever it was, it didn’t matter. She just hoped that Jupiter wouldn’t push her away.

When their blue eyes met, she smiled, using her hand to pull up the hood so she could look at him from under her snow white lashes. She smiled, a perfect white on white as she tried to read what was going on in his mind. His smile was forced, but this was of no surprise. What surprised her more, was that he asked her to come in without questioning why she was here. Like a ghost, she only appeared at night - so this was far from the first time she had knocked on someone’s door at an inappropriate time. With him, however, it had been a while.

She hesitantly stepped into the room and closed the door behind her, leaning against it as she tried to take in the shapes. She looked back at Jupiter, taking one step closer so she’d be able to focus on him again and actually see his expressions. A soft smile pulled at her lip as she watched him in silence for a moment, after which she nodded. “It’s been too long,” she told him, no more hesitation to be found in her voice or eyes. “I heard about-” She paused for a moment. The war? His sister? “-everything. How are you holding up?” Even though she was certain his words wouldn’t hold much truth, at least his eyes might be able to tell her more.

In those past days back home he tried to cope with the loss of his sister. He never was much of a talker, not even against his own wife, not about this. Nobody could feel the loss as hard as he did. Not Apollo, not Diana, maybe not even his mother. It always had been him and Nox against the world. Two children born out of newfound love, bound together to find each other’s comfort. He failed her, he realized that. Maybe he should have dragged her back home instead of leaving her with that boy, with her happiness. Maybe it would have never happened if he just kept a closer eye on her. But there was no turning back from that and his heart was not yet ready to accept that.

The pain was his only distraction, that and Ophelia. When he found Elara in his doorway he breathed out. Breathing out everything he was feeling only to collect himself for her. She smiled and he reminded himself how often they had smiled when they were younger. He spoke about years … also something he blamed himself for. But she was here and it had to count for something. Maybe it meant something. Maybe he wasn’t that alone as he often thought.

As she stepped and closed the door he hesitated somewhere in the middle of his room. He knew what would come. And when he looked back at her she was already looking, deeper then anybody else would or dared. He looked down to the ground when she mentioned it had been too long. Yes, they had seen each other, crossed each other in hallways but he had always been too busy and to closed up to look for her again. He slowly looked back at her as she started her sentence and stopped it almost immediately. His accident? Nox? Both? He forced a short smile on his lips. ‘Fine.’ He shook his head, keeping his eyes on her. ‘As good as I can.’ He corrected himself. It sounded weaker. He was still looking as he nodded. ‘It’s good to see you.’ He admitted. She was not only a friend, but she was also a priestess, something he could trust.
