Joining a Common House
During the first weeks of Forged in Fire's time online, we will be looking for some members for the premade Common houses. These houses are the ones that hold cities and have quite a bit of influence over the regions they are settled in. We seek a Lord or Lady for each of these houses, with ofcourse some extra family members.

These houses, though name, sigil, place on the map and words thought out, are free to design as you'd like. The only thing we ask of you is that you keep true to your application, think out how your house will be and stick to it. Once you have been accepted, we would be able to make a Sigil for you. You are also free to make it for yourself as long as you keep object on your sigil the same as we planned it, or come with a good idea of what it should be.(link to Sigil template here ) You are free to choose your own heir, family and legacy. It is important to note that if a house becomes inactive or the player refuses to take advice from the staff, the house might be taken away.

The following houses are currently available to rule. Once you've fallen in love with the house of your dreams, find some friends and write an application together. The more people are in on it, the better we might like it. These houses should stay active, so a big family is more than welcome! Of course, a singular original story will catch our eye too. Try to be original and not follow in the footsteps of overused storylines.

HOUSE INFO

House Mercier is one of the oldest houses in Evergreen. Once a rich merchant family from Lavarr, now a respectable house holding one of the most important trading positions in Avalance. Though they have known their hardships, House Mercier has stood through all of them and has proven that they are strong and not to be messed with.

The Merciers are known for their harsh actions, usually dealing with the consequences when they feel like it. They aren’t scared of threats, and it doesn’t matter if they are on the receiving end or the other way around. They are fighters, fiercely protecting their citizens and everything that they own.

They not only trade in gold and goods, but in information as well. Under their rule Riverhold has grown to become a rich and flourishing city. Throughout the years, House Mercier has learned that trust has to be earned and it is somewhat hard to get into their good graces. But once on their side they are a powerful ally.

HOUSE HISTORY

House Mercier started as the Mercier Merchant company, originating from Lavarr. The family was looking for new trade routes to expand their company and get more income. Eventually during one of their many travels at sea, Qarter Mercier stumbled upon Avalance. The continent seemed to be on very few trade routes yet and so the man decided to settle in the Ruby Bay, setting up a trading post that generated a lot of income.

The small trading post steadily grew to a settlement, people from both Lavarr and Avalance living from the trade that came in almost daily. Qarter decided to permantly settle himself in Avalance, rebranding the little hamlet to Riverhold and branding himself the mayor.

Eventually Qarter and his wife grew old and their settlement grew to a village. At this point they passed down the rulings to their son, who married a girl from the village and continued to hold up the Mercier name high.

Slowly but steadily, over some generations, Riverhold grew from village to city to a living hub of trades, spices and culture. People from all over Avalance and Lavarr saw the city as a way to restart life, seizing trading oppertunities and getting rich of whatever they could sell.

The Merciers grew into a competitive house, making sure that they made decisions that were only best for them and the citizens living in Riverhold, making them sometimes hostile towards outsiders. But they flourished and only grew. This attracted the attention of the King of Avalance and he granted them the title of High House of Evergreen, giving them more influence over the region.

A few generations later, House Mercier, now ruled by Ferho Mercier, decided to raise the fee for entering the Ruby Bay, demanding half the earnings traders made from their wares. Of course, the traders wouldn’t stand for it and instead decided to find their luck elsewhere. Economically seen, was this a disaster for Riverhold. The city lost much of its income, and people left to follow the money. But Fehro stayed with his decision, letting Riverhold decay while he and his wife lived of their riches. This, after some time of nothing changing, caused an uprising and it cost him his head.

Not only that, but the power of being a High House shifted from them to the House of Vigneron. As the king saw the Merciers no longer fit to rule Evergreen after the greedy influences of Fehro, he granted House Vigneron the title of High House.

This stung, obviously, and for the next years House Mercier laid low, trying to rebuild their image and attract new people to Riverhold. They came back to their roots, trading in spices, wares and expensive items.

Slowly but steadily, House Mercier regained their confidence and with Ronan Mercier at the helm of the family, it looked like they were returning to their glory days. Ronan tried his best to learn his children as many good values that he could, but also learned them the tricks of the trade, politics and everything that there was to know about ships.

The oldest of the Mercier children, Inej, was just on her way to Lavarr to establish a new trade route when the sudden news reached her that her father had passed and that it was her they expected to step up and rule the house and Riverhold. While her brother was supposed to be the next of kin, he stepped down, forwarding the power to his sister.

So, she returned and has had a few years to get accustomed to her new role, working on showing how powerful House Mercier used to be, and how powerful they are now. To power herself as Head of the House, Inej married with a man from one of the richest trading merchants in Riverhold, to steady herself and build an alliance with the merchants. This was done out of need and not out of love.

Though House Mercier has learned from their past mistakes, their hatred for House Vigneron still runs deep and the relation between the two houses is tight, maybe even non existent, as House Mercier still believes they should rule the Evergreen.

HOUSE INFO

As the main port of trade to Yax’in, it is no surprise that House Mahli has always been influenced by their ways and traditions, to the point where the current Lady is as much Avalance as she is Yax’in. Despite its active trade, Sunfall is hardly known for its hard workers, but instead for the bright festivities and the beautiful beaches. House Mahli keeps up this reputation, hosting the biggest parties in its city. Still, they managed to balance work and leisure equally well. Now that the two sisters are all that remains of House Mahli, however, this might change.

HOUSE HISTORY

Port Dawn

Port Dawn was named after the sea it overlooked. It was located behind a hidden pass, able to reach the Blue Moon Spring as well as the open sea beneath. Pirates, bandits and all those who had left their Gods behind were welcomed into this city that kept away from the reign of Kings and Queens, Lords and Ladies. They lived by the words ‘Live Long and Die Free’, believing no one should have to answer to anyone.

A curious mind, Akoni Mahli, was convinced that there was something to the South. This couldn’t be all the world had to offer. And with the first flood of people arriving from the West, he set out to sail South with most of his fleet. He lost all his ships, except for the smallest of them all, on his way down South.

Yax’in

After finding Yax’in, Akoni realized how different the place was. They had different animals, different food, different gems, poison, gold, there was so much he could bring back home. But, he knew full well that he couldn’t do this alone. The people of Yax’in weren’t too keen on trusting a stranger, however. So Akoni traveled back home. He convinced his people to gather whatever things they could trade and went back down South.

It took him years to gain their trust, but slowly he started to convince more people to trade with him, but just him. For decades, Akoni sent ships to travel down South and trade with Qecera. After marrying Mele, they gave birth to their first-born, a boy named Tua. As soon as the boy was old enough to travel, he was taken with Akoni to keep their agreement going. After Akoni died to old-age and Tua married a girl born in Yax’in, people from the Bay of Serpents finally considered it safe to send out ships themselves as well, set for Port Dawn. Slowly, business became better and more frequent.

Sunfall

Slowly, pirates left the Port. Those who wanted a better life started a life of trade, making relatively good money with the exclusive trade to and from Yax’in. Meanwhile, the New Kings had arrived and settled in the North, as well as the uniting marriage between Lady Asherah and Lord Salvador, uniting Ashax. Rules were made and the Port was set to fully function as a Trading Bay. To further show their conviction to change, they changed their name to Sunfall, announcing a new era for both Avalance and their city. House Mahli was announced ruling House over the city.

Era of Dragons

Sunfall managed to stay mostly out of the war that was fought up North, though it did take its toll on the trade. Less ships were sent up North and the products were getting even more expensive than they already were. Products from Yax’in became a status symbol, to the point where even serving a Yax’in fruit was considered an indication of one’s riches.

After Sunchaser ended the Bone Sorcerer King, Avalance was more peaceful and slowly, Lady Keone Mahli managed to convince the people of Altzin to increase the amount of yearly shipments. Soon after, Qecera too increased the amount of ships sent up north. Sunfall grew to be a bigger city than ever, thriving off its trade with Yax’in.

Death of Father and Son

House Mahli has steadily ruled the city since they were appointed to do so. Their relationship with Yax’in is better than ever, with Lei Mahli marrying a southern Lady. They gave birth to twins at first, of which the boy was set to rule the House after their parents were no longer able to. The boy and his father were often traveling down south together. Like his ancestor had done before him, Lei introduced Haku to the people they were trading with. He learned their ways and got to know the most important people in the two cities. At times, Lei would take his other children too, but that was often left for more important occasions, like the anniversary of their trading agreement.

On the way back of their last venture, Haku and Lei were caught in a storm. The ship was caught in the waves and never seen again. His wife and daughters waited at home, but weeks went by without ever hearing from them again. Eventually, they had to move on.

Kalea Mahli

It had always been clear that Kalea wasn’t made to rule, yet this was how things would be. Her older brother was a political mastermind and her younger sister Luana seems to know every single thing about trade, but Kalea simply has never found her place. She loves to party and is absolutely adored by the people. Her council advises her to marry someone to rule with her, to save the future of House Mahli.

Would you get the Devil this dance?
Would you be a part of his plans?
Now you got some blood on your hands
Well, this can only end one way
