“Sssssstssst, don’t cry, don’t cry.”

He placed one gentle finger on his lips before that finger turned into a whole hand covering his entire mouth and nose without him noticing. The crying only got worse and his whole body was fighting against the creature holding him with no effort. There were bite marks all over his body with blood dripping out. “I don’t like it when they cry, it hurts me in here.” Aurélio was looking the man straight in his eyes when tapping one his own chest and then moved his hand and placed it over the heart of the man. He could feel his heartbeat beating underneath all that flesh, muscle and bone, it made him feel alive. His eyes drifted off to his hand that lay on the man’s chest. Aurélio was so compelled by the heartbeat that was slowing down beneath his hand that he didn’t notice how the man was twitching under his grip until it was too late, and the man went limp.

It seemed like forever until he finally noticed the heartbeat had stopped. When he looked up, he saw those empty eyes. “Oh dear,” Aurélio sighed deeply. Slowly he let go of the man, going through his knees, making sure the body was placed down gently. “You were a good pet.” He moved his hand through the man’s hair like he’d done so many times in the past couple of days. There was this look of sadness his eyes as he sat down with his arms on his knees, not taking his eyes off…his pet, now that he came to think of it, he never asked his name. “What a shame, a real shame,” he mumbled to himself, rubbing his eyes.

Aurélio had no idea how long he sat there, looking at the bloody, dead body. He had no reason to hurry, they were in his home. An old wooden shack that creaked every time the wind blew even a little. People told stories about this place, how children should avoid it. There were tales about screams coming out of it, but it was a small village with no one brave enough to enter and see the monster for himself. Those who did never left alive. Mostly men who didn’t believe the tales about monsters. The man lying before him had been one of them.

“My mind is a mess that I can't escape”

I fear no monsters for no monsters I see
because all this time the monster has been me.

This was all new for the undying. Where he’d normally hunt down a prey, following him for several days while judging whether he was bad enough for Felix to take his life, this hunt had taken over weeks already. He had been going back and forth, unable to decide if he was going to end the soul’s life or not. Humans were different in that regard, as it was part of his nature that required for them to die, which was something he’d been struggling with ever since he’d been turned.
But killing other undying had been a heavy burden upon his conscience, Felix had been fighting with it ever since the idea first popped up in his mind. But useless victims had fallen and the undying had promised himself to follow him for a while and determine after.

The one moment the strange undying had been within his vision, the other he was completely vanished. Pho looked up, confused as he searched for the man he had been following before he sighed. He really shouldn’t think too much in moments like these, messing all of his previous work up just because he couldn’t keep his mind on the subject. It had happened before and every time the man found someone dead after, he’d just wanted to avoid that from happening right now and he’d probably failed while he was at it.
So there was nothing left then to just follow the whispers of the people that they brought along as they lived in the tiny village. It wasn’t as far away from his own place, but it probably had more deaths within it. Especially in the last several days, as the activity had seemed to skyrocketed.

It all led the undying to one shack, hidden from the plain view but spoken about nonetheless. Felix wasn’t fond of approaching random places like that, as he was invading someone’s privacy one way or another and those always seemed to have a bad feeling around them. He himself hated trespassers and would chase or scare them away if that would be necessary, so doing it now himself felt hypocritical, something he hated as well.
He stopped in front of the building as he listened for any sounds, which his senses picked up fairly quickly. But the lacking of a heartbeat was the final piece of the puzzle that clicked. This just had to be him, and the smell of drying blood -immediately making his own senses tingle told him there would be probably be another victim in there. He opened up the shack that looked like he himself could crush it down very easily, as he stepped in while he eyed the crime scene. The other undying with a fresh but lifeless body inside of his arms, it immediately raised his hatred towards their kind. ’What are you doing?’ He asked, a simple question that held a far deeper meaning. His voice cold and nearly angry while he observed the undying. Felix couldn’t just kill him, he needed to be sure about what he was doing and that meant he needed to

How did it feel when it came alive and took you
