We may be small, and we may be young
but we will shake the world for our beliefs

She needed her time off. Having a constant annoying shit of an niece made her impatient. No, her niece wasn't annoying. It was the weather, the life here that made her pull out her hair. Wanting to scream out in annoyance. She needed the cold. She needed the snow the cold. Her people. She did not belong in the glade and yet. Here she was with her sister. Having come down south all those years ago for her. Everything for her. And now she did not know if she was ever going to see her northern home again.

Born from a small family she had always felt the struggle to grow. To carry her name higher. To show the world what she could be. But all she was was a mercenary. She was a lady of sorts, but barely carried that name with pride. She was a fighter and a survivor. A wolf and thus a killer. Stripped of her weapons it seemed and put in the place of being a tutor. A loyal little lamb. It killed her inside.

She loved her family, she really did. But Cam had her own life and her sister was just there, hanging around. Teaching her daughter and stepson the wrong things. Was this all her future held? Was this all her life would be..

Softly she sighed, staring up at the pale blue sky and shook her head. Trying to push away the thoughts. She belonged here now. Belonged with her sister and her niece. Belonged with house Goldenleaf even if she didn't belong anywhere in the world. Her sister gave her a home when her mother grew furious that she didn't bother looking for a husband. She could step away from the family house and breath a breath of fresh air. Only if it did not have to be Glade air.. Only if it could be Highland air.

if only.

know thy limits and push past them
Goldenleaf might be the town she went to most, since it was closest to the forest she liked to hunt. This made navigating it easier, which was a nice change from always having to ask the townspeople were the market was. Today, however, she wasn't here for the market - or at least not here to sell her things on said market. She had sold out two days ago, in Sapphire Keep, and was now defenitely taking some time off. She was here to let Apollo have a good rest, as she had been riding for almost two days straight to get from Sapphire Keep to the the green antler. Goldenleaf would be a nice resting place for her horse, as well as her, although she had the habit of pushing herself further than she actually should.

It was a nice day today, with the sun shining and very little clouds, bringing just the right temperature this town could have. It made Zahida not want to hole up in a tavern room for the rest of the day, but actually go out on the streets, perhaps as a tourist to see something of the city she usually only went to for the market. With a nod she decided that this was what she was going to do, but first she had to find Apollo a nice stable with clean water and fresh hay.

After leaving Apollo with a stableboy and hiring a room at the tavern next door, she decided to freshen up before she actually went out. Riding for two days didn't exactly do wonders for your appearance, as it turned out. So she took a quick bath and pulled out her nicest dress from her small collection - one that reminded her of her old home, Ashax. As much as she disliked to think back at her youth, purely because she would miss her father too much by doing so, she loved to clothing her hometown produced. They were colorful, unlike the robes on this side of the sea, and made her stand out, which she liked very much. The dress she had chosen for today was airy and flowy around her legs with a split in the middle, but tighter around her chest, and didn't have any sleeves, just two straps that made sure the dress wouldn't slide down. The colors on it were a gorgeous bright red and yellow, perfect for the weather of today. After tying her hair up in a bun, she stepped outside, feeling the warm sun on her skin and the light breeze play with the fabric she was wearing.

How much rather ad she been anywhere but here.. How much rather had she taken her horse and left these lands for good. But her heart remained here in her exile of her own making. Staying forever at her sisters side. The loyal guardian, the precious little sister, the loving aint and every other role she had to play in order to stay here in Goldenleaf.

The streets were just as busy as normal, but it missed the northern mood, these people had another kind of, cheerfulness if she could call it that way. It had confused her at first but she could not deny that it had grown on her. If anything could grow on her that was.

An woman, so obviously not from here, catched her eye. Her lightly tanned skin inbetween the fair skins of the locals showed that they were still very much in the north. The Glade considered itself northern lands, a statement she could only laugh about. But here she was, being the Lady's sister, having a 'title' as lady though she wasn't often seen that way. House Rizal was small if you could even call it a house. Only growing by their marriages, one of the other reasons why Delaney had gone off to live with her sister, to escape her mothers piercing eyes and disapproving sighs. She was 28 and not yet married, a shame. A disgrace. Del should know better than that, should know a womans place. But she was a stupid girl, believing in equality in a big bad manworld.

Her attention snapped back towards the girl and walked towards her. Her chin held high and her eyes cold and somewhat distant. "I have not seen you before in these streets M'am, am I perhaps able to assist you?" She asked cautiously staring at her features.

know thy limits and push past them
It wasn't uncommon for her to catch the eye of locals. She looked nothing like them; if not by her clothing then by her skin. Not only was it more tan than those of the people living around here, it also had numerous whiter spots because of her vitiligo. This was why she ignored most people looking at her; including the white haired Lady not too far away from her. Zahida had no idea the woman was a Lady as she didn't really care much for politics. So she continued walking down the street, enjoying the sights of the argitecture and the commoners living their daily lives. The stalls next to the streets also grabbed her attention; she saw delicious fruits and beautiful clothes everywhere. Zahida could simply walk like this all day, but perhaps this was not to be, as the white-haired woman had come up to her and greeted her.

It was no secret that Zahida was surprised by the other; it was written all over her face. It became very clear very quickly that the other woman was cautious of her, which Za liked somehow. She liked being looked up to, or being feared. Not in a fucked up way - she just liked the feeling of power it gave her. So she locked eyes with the other and smiled a little challenging. "Assist me how?" she asked right away, taking note of how rudely the other hadn't even introduced herself and she would be doing the same. "I come here quite often, at least twice a month," she then added.

The womans cold reply came as a shock to her. For a second she stood with her mouth firmly closed but her eyes a bit wider. Staring at the woman who looked up at her, her dark eyes never leaving Delaney's. It took the white haired woman a few seconds to regain herself while leaning backwards. Moving her hand to rest on the hilt of her sword that dangled beside her leg. Narrowing her eyes slowly a slow and careful smile crossing over her lips in an effort to stay polite.

Fucking southerners.

"You must excuse me." She began her voice colder than before. "It is quite uncommon to see a woman like yourself alone on the streets. Especially when night is soon to set." All the friendliness dissapeared slowly from her tone as she stared down on the woman. "I am merely looking out forr those less..able to protect themselves." With this she held onto her hilt a bit tighter pulling up her nose. "But a sensible woman sees soon enough when she is not needed or wanted." She held up her other hand and ook a step back. Fine by her, let her get grabbed in an allyway and be taken away. Little did she care. If she cared at all. Hgnph

But she did care. And that was kind of the problem with her. She cared too much.

So she turned back looking at her again and held out a coin to her with the sign of house Carthas on it. Her deep blue eyes keeping a focus on the womans reaction.
