PERSONALITY

Character traits | graceful - calm - kind - compassionate - forgiving - patient - precise - disciplined - meticulous - religious - clever - intelligent - observant - perceptive - secretive - cryptic - cunning - sly

Isolde is a woman that has many different sides to her. Most of all she’s an enigma. Pulling you closer and closer to her until you’re in her grip. People want to see more of her than just the one side they’ve been graced with. She’s so cloaked in mystery that she’s almost as perplexing as the faith she represents.

As a priestess she is warm-hearted, open and most of all forgiving. People come to her for advise, which she so kindly offers them. She knows everything about her faith, often citing tales of the four Gods as means of advise. People find her alluring and are drawn to her like moths to the flames she so graciously embodies. Especially men, who find her the ultimate price: an unconquerable woman. Isolde knows this, and uses this to her advantage.

She has a much darker side that she keeps hidden perfectly well. Her involvement with the cult has blackened her heart over the years and she now believes that the cult has a purpose to fulfill. She has grown to be manipulative and persuasive. She’s a very patient woman who prefers slowly expanding her power instead of taking a battle head-on. She keeps the bigger picture in mind and thinks miles ahead.

Her connection to the faith is a big one. She’s had dragon dreams ever since she was a child. They turned more prophetic with each big change or occurance in her life. She desperately seeks for the message behind them. She’s so invested in her faith that people tend to believe and trust her. Which she then uses for her purpose as a Sage.

Skills | manipulation - persuasion - empathy - calligraphy - cryptography
Unskilled at | hunting - fishing - cooking - basically providing food for herself

Birth of a spark

Isolde was born into an upper middle class family. Both of her parents, Richelieu and Nadine, were merchants who mostly traded with Yax’in. She grew up in a healthy household that cemented her easy childhood. She never had anything to complain about, and was as normal as the kids around her. The only thing that was different was that ever since she was a child she had these dreams that kept reoccuring. It always had something to do with dragons. At the time, her parents didn’t think much of it, she was just a child with a broad imagination, no one special.

Isolde grew up to be a beautiful and smart girl. She drew the eyes of many men, making her the perfect candidate for marriage. When she was fifteen she fell in love with a stable boy. It was like any other first love, meant to last forever. That ended when a man came to her house one day. A Lord who’s eyes had fallen on Isolde. He was smitten with a girl this delicate and beautiful and wanted nothing more than to make her his wife one day. Her parents almost agreed to it, with the contract being drawn up. All they had to do was make a trip to Yax’in first and Isolde would be his.

That same year her entire life changed. On that faithful trip, her parents died, their ship devoured by the sea. Isolde however, knew before anyone else. It was because she saw the exact ship crash on the waves, slowly being taken to the depth of the sea. Her dreams now made sense to her. She was connected to her faith no matter how much she didn’t want to be. When the letter came a little over a week later she already knew. She had known the entire time.

The promise of salvation

Her life was a whirlwind. She was left orphaned with no close family to take care of her. Only a distant aunt and uncle who most certainly weren’t interested in taking the girl in. All who were left were the stable boy and the Lord. Both wanting her, both offering her a life full of promise. Isolde of course, chose the boy. Her heart belonged to him after all, wasn’t that was she was supposed to do? Upon hearing this the Lord was anything but content with her choice.

He didn’t understand how a girl chose a life full of uncertainty and poverty over a life full of riches with him. He got so angry at the girl that he decided if he couldn’t have her, nobody could. From one day to another the stable boy had vanished. Isolde was now completely and utterly alone. With no knowledge on how to take care of herself and no job whatsoever the possibilities of where to go were slim. The offer of the Lord still stood but there was no way she would take that now. She knew what he did, even when she couldn’t prove it.

And in all the madness and chaos she found the light. Aster’s light had reached her. While dwelling the streets at night the girl was drawn to a bright flame burning at the shrine of Aster. She stayed there until a priest came outside. She was found.

A guiding light

The priests took her in, promised her a simple but good life. A way to live with her grief and learn to love something far more consistent than a human: the Dragon Gods. She had no problem adjusting, after all, she had nothing and no one left. The Lord, upon hearing this, was outraged. His will that no one would have her had come true. Nobody would ever touch her again. She would bear no children, would love no one the way she once had. And somehow she was okay with this. It was a fresh start for her.

The smart girl quickly got used to life in the faith. She found solage in its tales and lore. When she was sixteen she started studying to become a priest. Her new family, the other priests, were her new family. When they learned of her dreams they were overjoyed. A strange thing to her, especially after the death of her family. But they told her it was a gift and taught her how to translate those cryptic dreams. Which signs to see, which message to follow. Aster would guide her through it all.

Cloaked in mystery

When she was twenty-one years old, a most curious man arrived at the temple of Aster. A place where only the wisest and most promising priests lived, including Isolde herself. Seeking safety from a dark power hunting him. Isolde took him to where the other priests lived, offering him shelter from the terrors that hunted the night. The man thanked her, promising her good fortune by whispering a passage of the most known tale about Aster: “Look upon the heavens and earth. Aster made them not with dust and water. Stare into the flame and behold therein how they were created.”

As the months passed, the man often visited the priestess, confiding in her. In all truth he was trying to gain her trust. And slowly but surely he succeeded. She grew to care for him and he molded her into the person he wanted her to be. He had seen her potential, now it was time for her to prove herself.

On what Isolde believes to be a faithful night the man took her to the forest. There, when they were all alone, he told her his purpose in life. How he served to one day have Aster reborn. Isolde trusted him enough, had listened to him whisper in her ear enough, to believe his story. To be moved by it in a way she never expected. That was the night she was initiated by the man, who she would now come to know as ‘the Raven’.

A life for a life

As the years went on Isolde was drawn into the Cult more and more. She believed it with all her heart just as much as she believed in her faith. A combination that would shape her life. She started to receive more daunting tasks from the Cult, daring her to climb higher up into the life of the priests. And the Raven had been right when he recognized her potention. Because if Isolde wanted anything in life it was power. She wanted to be able to control people. The Cult brought out her dark side while her faith kept her light side alive. Isolde was appointed Sage when she was twenty-six after the Raven died. She had proved herself enough, and his last wish was for her to be his successor. From now on she would be called ‘the Fox’.

She continued to serve both her faith and her purpose in the Cult. She was now in charge of the Flames of Aster and served purposefully. She used her wit and knowledge of her faith to draw people in just like she had been. She whispered in the ears of her victims. And while they believed her to guide them, give them advise, she only saw the bigger picture.

The weight of a whisper

While she was proving herself as a Sage, she did the exact same in her faith. The priests were fond of her, trusted her. She was one of the most loyal followers of the Dragongod Aster, preaching about him at whatever chance she got. When the High Priest at the time died of old age, she was appointed once more. She had achieved the ultimate level of power.

It was only six months ago that she took up the responsibility as High Priestess. Since then she has been carefully whispering in the King’s ear, making sure to always be as cautious as she had been taught. She was formed into a manipulative, persuasive and alluring woman who will wait patiently for her schemes to play out.

Trivia

- Wears a necklace [click] that is the last remainder of her family and her life before she found her faith
- Knows her way with a sword
- Has a white horse named Asfaloth

Council

As High Priestess, Isolde is one of the few that can sit with the King himself. She whispers in the King's ear, taking her sweet time to explain what she has seen. This whispering, a form of advise if you will, is her most powerful weapon. She constantly enforces her advise with tales of the Gods to strengthen it. Her dreams play a big role in what she will tell him. She sees it as her direct connection to the Gods and spends a lot of her time deciphering what they exactly mean. Because she can never be sure, she gives her advise in cryptic messages. She often enforces these messages with passages and quotations from the books that tell the tale of the Gods. The messages have multiple ways to interpret them, a safety net for her and a guide for whoever hears it. The future has many possibilities, all she has to do is give a hint as to what is a wise path to follow. To keep despair away from Dragonwatch and Avalance.

She often attends meetings of the King's council. She is never one to make her will way by force. Instead she does this by luring people in. A much more cunning way than all those who favour brute force. She is more of a guiding presence during the council meetings, offering advise to all. Not just the King. She represents that what they all have to believe in. She makes sure they don't see the faith as an enemy, but as a true ally.

She has a certain power over what happens within the city as she oversees it all. As she whispers to the King, so does she with the other Lords and Ladies. Or even the common folk, if it suits her purpose. She is a trusted figure amongst the people of Dragonwatch and will often preach tales of the Gods to them in order to strengthen their support of her. She is respected and carries herself with everlasting dignity. What really draws people in is her mysterious character. She is someone that is close to whoever believes in the Gods, but can never truly be reached.

Isolde is a Sage in the Cult, in charge of the Flames of Aster. She is also quite literally in charge of the Flames of Aster as priestess. Because she is heavily invested in the Cult and in the rebirth of Aster himself she will often manipulate people in a way that suits the purpose of the Cult. This is always done very slowly and cautiously, making it impossible for her to get caught. In her eyes, the purpose of the Cult aligns with the Dragonfaith. This serves as a validation of her actions. As a Sage she also recruits people for the Cult. To the blind eye, by doing that she just guides another life to believe in the true faith.

Alexander Janise x Sabrina Janise

PERSONALITY

Andrés is the kind of people most will underestimate. Many do not agree with his lifestyle and think he is one big fraud. All they see is the party loving man, who will never say no to a drink and doesn’t take things seriously. It’s a persona he learned to hide behind over many years. While he might not always look or sound like the brightest person, he is very intelligent and knows how to manipulate the people around him.

He has a way of making people feel comfortable around him and in return, these people will trust him more easily. Andrés doesn’t care not everyone thinks highly of him and that there are those who think he’s ill-fitted as Master of Whispers, but they all forget there is a reason he was chosen.

If anything, he is not the person to play fair. He will never endanger his own life if he doesn’t have to and will often choose for poison instead of a physical fight because he knows he can’t win those. Andrés is well aware of his strengths and weaknesses and will handle according to those. He is not a fair player and he never will be.

He is a very neat and clean person. It will drive him mad when people leave a mess behind, but he won’t clean up after them, he would rather throw everything away.
You’ll notice when he doesn’t like you because he will not even try to hide it. When you do him wrong, you can forget it, there is only a small chance he will forgive you for it. He will not shut up about the thing you’ve done, especially when he knows you were wrong and will bring it up from time to time.

While he is good at talking and can talk about everything, he is even a better listener. He has the talent to listen to conversations he shouldn’t know about. When something isn’t his business, he’ll make sure to make it his business as well.

HISTORY

➜ Together with his twin brother, he was born into a wealthy family, who were happy to welcome this new life. As they grew up, it turned out that only Andrés had inherited his mother’s skills for magic, something his brother was always envious about it. His father never thought magic was something men should possess, as they were warriors and strength was more important than party tricks. In all secrecy, Andrés tried to teach himself how to use his abilities.

➜ When both sons were old enough, they both became a Knight squire because their father wanted both of them to become Knights as well someday. For a while, everything went alright, although it was obvious his brother was better at this than he was. Now Andrés was the envious one because he wanted to be as good as his brother at fighting. He tried his best, but one night, when he went to take care of the horses, one of them got scared and he had to jump away or the horse would’ve run over him. Although he managed to get away, he still ended up with a broken arm.

➜ Andrés was sent home because he couldn’t do anything until his arm had healed. He often ended up in the kitchen, helping the cooks and it turned out he was very good at it. Of course, his father disagreed because noblemen shouldn’t be in the kitchen, least of all cooking. It didn’t stop Andrés and he kept going down there until one day, he saw that the cook was beaten up and missed some teeth. His father had been punishing the cooks for letting his son help. Andrés never went down there again after that incident.

➜ Once his arm was healed, he went back to continue his training. It didn’t really work out for him that well. A hit from a wooden sword against his fingers and he fractured his fingers. Father always told him it was his own fault and that he should be more careful. After seriously injuring his back, the Knight whose squire he was, dismissed him.

➜ His brother eventually became a knight, all while he was spending time in the city, among the people, listening to their stories and tales. At night he often didn’t even return home and spend the night somewhere else. At that point it didn’t really matter anymore what he did, everything he did was wrong in his father’s eyes, even breathing. What they didn’t know was that he was aware of the things that were happening in the city, even before the King and his men knew. He often helped the Master of Whispers when she needed information, as he had many contacts around Avalance.

➜ The moments he spent at home, he started painting. Yet another thing his father disagreed on, but he was good at it and loved the art he created. Every painting he created had a hidden message only he understood. This became his way of remembering the things people told him and what he heard. At some point his father was tired of him and destroyed almost all of his paintings, burning them to ash so that there was nothing left. This was the moment Andrés had enough of him and decided to move out.

➜ After the previous Master of Whispers resigned, he was asked to come to the castle where he was asked if he wanted to take her place. They knew he had many contacts and that he’d helped the previous Master of Whispers a lot in the past.

➜ His father knew he was losing control over his son, so in one last attempt of changing him, he arranged a marriage between him and Isla Sylversword. Andrés never agreed to it, but he was given no other choice. It didn’t take long before the two of them got married.

Council

After working for the previous Master of Whispers for many years, he eventually took over her position. He has many contacts all over Avalance that keep him up to date with everything that is happening and is going to happen. All this important information will go directly to the King and his other advisors. Of course, it can happen from time to time that he decides to keep certain things to himself if it suits him. He also believes it might be better to not tell everything immediately and see how certain things turn out first.

Due to his carefree lifestyle, not everyone believes he is the right person for the job. They think he does not take it seriously enough and that he is not smart enough.
