It was early morning when Connor woke up. Most of the time he was awake before the sun was even up and this time was no different. He slowly got ready for the day, while the first sunlight started to break through. For once it was not snowing, but grey clouds were hanging in the air. As soon as he was ready he stepped out of his room and walked through the halls, till he got to an opening where he could watch the sun climbing. He wanted a bit more light before he went out, since some prey may still be sleeping at this time. He leaned forward, while looking out over the frozen abyss. It was always a calming sight to look at and it was quite beautiful too. He still could not understand why people from outside the highlands hated the cold. He was rather too cold than too hot is he was honest.

to stand up for those that can't stand, speak for those that can't speak, be a beacon of light for those whose lives have become dark.
Like her eldest brother, the young Linnéa could be up at dawn without a tired line upon her young face. She was used to being up and about before the first daylight had taken its true warmth across the most northern part of Avalance. Plenty a people would have called The Last Hearth harsh and cold, however the young girl could find warmth in her family. Especially her father, Connor and mother. Although her parents could be quite ferm and stern whenever she was allowed to do new or different things. They were protective of their family, and the young child grew up being cared for by those that loved and adored her. In her turn she adored her eldest brother, he was old and big, however he also had a gentle heart that she could try to wind around her small fingers. Her light blue eyes shone brightly while she made her way towards the person in question. A tiny hand reached towards his after which she pulled softly at his warm fingers. 'Connor,' She spoke in a soft lilting voice before a smile erased her blank expression. She had been taught how to keep her expressions calm and ladylike, however her eyes would never lie. At such an occasion, in which she was on her own with her favorite brother, the young child was carefree as ever other child her age ought to be.

He had his gaze focussed on the frozen abyss before him, so he hadn’t noticed someone approaching till the moment his fingers were grabbed by a small hand. He didn’t flinch, just turned his gaze down to the one whom had grabbed his fingers. ”Linnéa,” He greeted her with a small smile. For his younger sister he could show a smile, for most of his family he could, but to outsiders he would not easily show it. ”You’re up early.” Not that he could say anything about that. He himself was an early riser and it didn’t really surprise him that his sister was too. ”Do you have anything planned today?” He himself would soon go hunting, something where he would definitely not take Linnéa with him. He did not know whether she had any lessons today. He could still remember when he had to take them and some were quite boring if he had to be honest. He liked learning how to fight and hunt more than learning how to read and write, but those were important too, so he had not really complained about it.

Her brother sometimes seemed to be lost in his own thoughts. It meant that she could play quite a few games with him, like jumping out of nowhere in front of him, giving him the scare of his life. Especially if he would then go on a Linnéa hunt. Those games were fun, the young child adored her older brother and he probably felt likewise with her. She usually kept her family on their toes in a kind and playful way. He did not scare this time, maybe because her approach was a lot kinder and calmer, she had just woken up, and was not ready to play yet. 'Linnéa,' He greeted her with a small smile. 'You're up early.' He noted, which made the girl nod slowly. She was an early riser, enjoyed watching the sun rise above the pale landscape. 'Do you have anything planned today?' The girl shook her head, nothing that was out of the usual. Maybe a few lessons with her teachers and hopefully something more adventurous. 'I have one lesson, and other then that... I want to do something outside?' She whispered, her face looked slightly abashed at the first part of her answer. Lessons could be boring but she wished to be able to write with her brother when he was away from home, which meant more lessons in private for the girl. She tried to keep it a surprise for him though.

One lesson, that was nothing out of the ordinary. But it was clear that his younger sister didn't like the idea of it and would rather do something else. It didn't really surprise him, since she had always seemed one to like adventure more than the boring things. He himself liked fighting and such a lot more too than reading and writing, but he had understood that he needed to learn all that since he was the heir and would be the lord in the future. "So you want to go outside?" He asked her. It wouldn't be that hard to take her outside for a bit before her lesson would start. It was already getting more light and she would be with him, so it should be fine. "We could go if you stay with me." He told her. If it was just through the Last Hearth it wouldn't be much of a problem, but he did not know where she wanted to go. "Where do you want to go?" Better ask before he would be outside with no clue where Linnéa even wanted to go.

Her brother knew about the way their parents would bring them up. He had experienced the same rules and bounderies, and knew that they had to learn to read and write as well as a few other things. In order to get them to be the best of their ability. Linnéa was still very young and as such her true lessons had just begun. She could already write a bit, however spelling and grammar was not her strongest suite. She would have to learn eventually, however for now people would have no trouble with the few mistakes she tended to make. When Connor would leave the Last Hearth for his job, the young child wanted to keep writing him, he was her favorite brother after all. 'So you want to go outside?' her brother asked the brunnete while her blue eyes raised to meet his. She looked alike, a female and smaller version of her brother. Blue eyes and brown hair, it was something that was in the genetics of her family. 'Yes.' The girl exclaimed, enthused. She loved the cold air that would make her hair rise, a harsh blanket that she was used to feeling whenever she got outside. Linnéa knew the rules however, at least one person in the household should know where she was at, at all times. Just leaving the house was against the rules, and those rules were to be followed. The child had no trouble making sure a guard or family member knew where she was rumbling about. 'We could go if you stay with me.' He told her. The brunette nodded with a small smile upon her angelic face. 'Where do you want to go?' The child frowned slightly, there were many places she liked to be. However only one that she loved roaming around. 'Can we go see some wild animals?' The girl was fascinated with the birds and other animals that survived the cold.

It wasn't that hard to guess what Linnéa had wanted from him and it was better that she went with him, instead of going on her own. Her smile brought a smile of his own on his face and he couldn't help but nod slightly. "Alright, we're going to watch some wild animals." Around here it wasn't hard to find some wild animals, though now that it was getting colder some were starting to prepare for the winter and would not show themselves as much. "Make sure you dress up warm before we go." He wouldn't want her to catch a cold while being outside with him. She was still so small after all and it wouldn't surprise him if she would get cold easily. Though she had been born here, so she would probably not feel it that much. "Meet me outside once you're ready." He told her and turned away, making sure he would have everything he needed. He might be able to hunt a bit too, but doubted it would be successful with Linnéa tagging along. Still he would also need an axe for when they might get attacked. He made his way outside where he waited till Linnéa would be ready too.

Having an older brother was in her opinion one of the best things to have. Especially one such as Connor that was very doting on his little sister and made her feel strong and safe at the same time. Even though Linnéa was very small and slender, seemed to be just the normal little girl from a Common House, she still was adventurous and carried an inner strength that only those in the North could posses. Her warm and happy smile, brought one on her older brother's face. 'Alright, we're going to watch some wild animals.' He knew his sister, as she had grown up around him and her love for other creatures was no hidden secret. Even though she had no problem seeing them killed for food and clothes, she herself was deep inside a very sensitive child. Linnéa knew how the things worked and had no bad experiences in the Last Hearth regarding to this. The north was only a good place for those that were able to use their minds at least as good as their brains. 'Make sure you dress up warm before we go.' Getting outside without a good jacket or cloak was something that was just not done, especially with the cold that would bite into one's skin. It was something that the young girl was used to but even though she could handle the cold, keeping warm was one of the most important things while being outside. Surviving a harsh climate was easier said than done. Her blue eyes sparkled with excitement before she nodded and turned around to get some warmer clothes. Her hair was fastened in some sort of updo when she turned back, one of the maids had helped her fasten it slightly, before offering her the warm cloak. The young girl ran outside with quite a spring to her step before smiling at her brother who had gathered his stuff. He was used to protecting his younger sister and as such seemed quite impressive with his fierce looks and knowledgeable hold on his axe.
