When Apollo had come to him after he had dealt with the Southerner, Alec had though that it would be about the repercussions that would follow for the woman in question. But instead of that, the man told him that he had given her a task. To bring back the head of the lady who had ordered the hit on one of their soldiers. Nothing that big. Yet he hadn’t mentioned the fact that he needed to keep an eye on her. No, that followed later after the both of them had some ale in them. It hadn’t been pretty. Off course Alec didn’t want to go. Who would take care of the training of the rookies? Manea? That wouldn’t end well and they both knew it. But Apollo’s mind was set. And Alec had to go. How very inconvenient it might be. She wouldn’t make it easy on him, he knew that already and he hated it.

Alec had been waiting on the back of his steed for almost an hour, before he had stepped off again. Tying his reigns to a wooden beam, leaning against that same wooden beam still waiting. For crying out loud. For a woman that wanted to be out of the oh so cold North so fast, she was taking her damn time. Which was annoying him. The faster they would get out of here, the faster they would reach there destination and get back here. But no. She had to take her time. Playing with a coin in his hand he was keeping himself rather busy. Eventually some people had passed by and he even shared a conversation with them about random things like the weather and that stuff. People who wanted to be on his good side. Nothing like the woman he was waiting for apparently.

Even more time had passed and by now he was getting really sick of it. Alec entered the inn, asking the innkeeper about the room where this woman had been staying. The only Southerner in this goddamn place, wasn’t that hard to find so it appeared. He was send up to the right room in an instant. Without any shame he pushed the door open, eventually knocking when the door was already open. Finding her in a bed, with a man. Which made him chuckle. Good for her, at least one of them went at it. 'It's about time that we leave.'

The blonde had gotten off easy. While she hadn’t wanted to show that to the lord himself, because her pride stood in the way of that, she knew it all too well. In Kraken, she would’ve hanged for this and Apollo Freyr must’ve had his reasons for letting her go because he had every reason to lock her up for attempting to kill one of his soldiers. Willa was grateful for the fact that she had gotten away while being still very much alive, but her punishment was cruel none the less. That she had to kill yet another person didn’t even bother her, but that she wouldn’t gain a single coin because of it was reason enough for her to be annoyed. The fact that Lord Freyr had appointed her a babysit who she couldn’t stand only made it even worse.

With that annoyance and the even earlier rejection buzzing through her veins she had stuck around at the bar of her inn. Casually drinking while letting men pay for her until one of those men had pulled her attention. The blonde had never been one for small talk but a couple of minutes talking to the rather handsome Northerner had brought them both up to her room. Contrary to most people who liked to sleep with different people as a kind of stress relief or pass-time, Willa liked the warmth of a body snuggled up to her and so the man had stayed over. When she had first opened her eyes, the sun was barely rising and she knew that she should get up and prepare for her travels to come but she didn’t, hoping to annoy the one meant to watch over her.

Time passed and she could hear the passage below her window getting more and more busy as the city awoke. The man next to her started stirring slightly and she unwrapped her arms and legs from his so he could wake up without giving her a black eye. Her ears reacted to a new sound, a heavy walk and she smirked as she pressed her face against the man next to her. The door flew open and she turned towards the door, her blue eyes focused on the one entering, bingo. Men were seldom the first to get up from bed, but she had never seen anybody jump in his clothes and run as fast as the one who had shared her bed once he heard his Lord Commander.

”Good morning to you too Lexy,” she spoke as she suppressed a fake yawn. Willa pushed herself up a little bit more, eyes focusing on his, ”If you want to leave, you could’ve just knocked and asked? No need for all these theatrics,” she spoke calmly, bored almost. ”Give me a little while, I’ll gather my stuff and we can get on the road,” she spoke as she sat upright on the edge of the bed, her feet already on the ground and legs uncovered.

Yeah, the man had enough of it. The woman was clearly doing this on purpose, but he wouldn’t let go so quickly. So he had decided to go in. After some small talk with the innkeeper he had given him the exact room where she would be staying in and told him that she had company. How bloody great. Not that it changed his plans in anyway. Nope, he had his mind set on leaving today and today was already almost ending. Just great. When he had opened the door, the guy in the bed seemed to be one of his own man which made him shake his head. Off course. What else did he expect? The guy bolted out, soon enough leaving the two of them alone in a room. Well, good riddance. Now they would be on their way a little bit faster. Or so he thought. If it was up to him they would, but for now Elia held all the reigns in her hands and that was bothering him to say the least.

He raised an eyebrow. Morning. Yeah right and still with the Lexy thing. Honestly he had wished Apollo would’ve shaken her up just a bit more. But no alas, she was still the plain old greedy mercenary he had met earlier. ’It’s past noon already but I’m sure you already knew that hm.’ Nope, he wasn’t having this. Though he wasn’t going to get more agitated by it. Or at least try for now. The man shrugged at her other words, ah yes. Knocking. That wouldn’t be happening no more. Not if she insisted on making this difficult for him that was. As she sat up straight the man crossed his arms over each other, his eye not darting to her uncovered legs cause that would just give her more leverage over him. ’So you can fall back asleep? I don’t think so.’ An amused little smile tugging at the corners of his mouth.

Men were easily predictable. They reacted in two ways to authority, fight or flight, like an animal driven into a narrow path in the woods. So when the dark-haired man’s eyes had flown open to see who was waking him, his survival instinct had kicked in and he picked flight. Not just that, he picked bolt and Willa softly chuckled at his reaction before greeting the man standing next to the door. Annoyance could be read of his face as he spoke and she had to gather all her self-restraint not to laugh in his face. When his Lord had told her just who would be babysitting her all the way to Evergreen and back, she had been annoyed but maybe, just maybe, she could make this a bit more bearable by seeing just ho much she could annoy the commander. ”Is it now? Wow, no, I really hadn’t noticed,” she spoke with disbelief in her voice but as she looked into his eyes, she left no doubt if she knew or not. The woman had heard the people below wake up and go through their day, she had just made a point of it to stay in bed, to make him wait for her.

He crossed his arms and this time it was she who arched an eyebrow as she saw the smirk appear on his face. ”Oh, please, I wouldn’t fall back asleep, there’s no one left to keep me warm,” she mused as she pointed behind her to the empty bed. A smirk appeared on her face as she noticed that he wasn’t moving, ”So I guess you’re not planning on moving, eh Lexy?” Her voice had sounded calm, like a real question as she had stood up dragging whatever cover she had with her. If the woman would get embarrassed by a man looking at her, she wouldn’t have picked a job where she often had to use her body as a way to get men to lower their guard. That didn’t mean, however, that she would just walk around naked while she picked up her clothes with her free hand. Once she had gather what she needed, she turned her back to him and dropped the cloth covering her front so she could put on her clothes. ”This barging into my room… is this going to be a thing?” she muttered matter-of-factly while she pulled on her skintight pants.

The man shook his head at her words. Yeah sure, he wasn’t that stupid that he actually believed that. The woman wanted to antagonize him and well it was working. He was playing right into her cards apparently and he already hated it. He should’ve stayed down. But well, mistakes were made in the end. Something he would probably do for the rest of their trip. Or maybe not. Honestly it all depended how things would go. But things weren’t looking good for him. That was one thing where he was certain off. Ellie didn’t seem all to pleased with him as the one who would be keeping an eye on her. Honestly, this was just as much as a punishment for her as it was to him. Apollo being his funny self. Not that he would say no to an assignment of his Lord. But that didn’t mean that he actually ought it to be funny.

It took everything for the man to not roll his eyes at the remark she threw at him. Well, this was going to be pleasant. If she needed someone to keep her warm while she was sleeping. Oh god, he already saw it happen that she would take people up to her room. Yet that wouldn’t throw him off. The man had experienced stranger things. But it was a simple fact that he wouldn’t lose her out of his sight. That was his biggest task on this whole trip thing. ’Nope.’ He wasn’t moving at all, not until she was dressed and ready to go that was. The fact that she did drag her cover with her as she stood up, pleased him. Though another side of him was well interested. That much he had shown the day before. The moment she turned her back to him, he let his gaze wander to the window were the sunlight was beaming through. Night would fall in four hours tops, which meant they would probably need to camp out in the Ironwood forest, not the most pleasant place to be at night. But the chance that they would find an inn was really small around those parts. The corner of his mouth shot up. ’Funny how you think that you’re getting your own room.’

Realization was creeping into his eyes and for a split second her grin grew lopsided, almost mocking him. She had anticipated him getting annoyed at her and he had played right into that by coming up and even barging in. Apollo could’ve sent whoever with her, but he went with his Lord Commander, someone who had annoyed Willa beyond measure, a favor she planned on returning. If the Lord of the Highlands planned on using her as an excuse to scout the other regions, the one scouting should at least experience some discomfort. His casual negation flew through the room and the sheet that was covering her, even though it was only her front, gave her enough confidence to turn around and click her tongue at him. This was most definitely going to be a long trip.

Her nimble fingers were closing the drawstrings around her hips as his answer sounded and she looked over her shoulder. Yeah, she had counted on having her own room, at least in the inns, but Alec Winchester seemed to have another idea. In her mind she was going over a couple of possible answers while a smirk grew. She picked up her blouse and dropped it over her head before turning around. ”Funny how you seem to think I care,” her words sounded confident but oh, she cared and it was already annoying plenty. Her blouse was stuffed in her pants before she threw over a couple of layers. ”If you’re planning on wearing that…” her index finger pointed towards the fur wrapped around the man, ”…you’re going to be surprised once we cross that border that separates you from the Southerners,” there was a mocking tone in her voice at the last word while she put on her cloak. All small weapons were already packed within her cloak so she just had to put her quiver on her back and picked up her bow. Twirling it in between her fingers shortly she also picked up her bag before walking to the door. Her hand patted his cheek mockingly, ”Why are you still standing around? Let’s go,” she said, knowing full well that she was the one slowing them down. Swiftly she went through the hallway and out of the inn, knowing that her horse was already saddled.

For a brief moment his eyes shot over to her closing the drawstrings. To only look out in front of him as her question had sounded and he had replied. No, there was no way he would actually let her have a room of her own. Pure out of not risking she wouldn’t run off. Cause Apollo would really have his head if he let that happen. He shrugged at her words. Caring or not, it didn’t bother him. His mind wouldn’t waiver about her having her own room or not. That was already set in his mind. When she pointed out that the clothes he would be wearing were to hot, he scratched the back of his head. He would survive right? ’I’ll make it work.’ Besides, he could always take off some clothes. He had plenty of lighter things to wear in his saddle bag, so he would be good. And if not, well that would be too bad for him.

As she picked up her bow he shortly glanced at it. Certainly a fine weapon if you ask him. All approval of the weapon went away when her hand patted his cheek. Which made him pull away. ’Don’t even start.’ He shook his head while he walked behind her, down the hallway to his white steed that was waiting for him. He untied the reigns from the wooden pole and got up his horse. ’Off we go then. Don’t pull anything funny, it would be a damn shame to bring your head to Apollo.’ He smirked. A damn shame, maybe but honestly right now he would take some pleasure in doing just that. But he needed to play nice, for the sake of this whole trip going well. He was certain that it would get interesting, but fun was a whole other thing. He spurred on his horse to start riding, a slow pace since they were in the city. A pace that picked up as soon as they reached the city borders.

The woman was an assassin, and she was trained to notice everything around her, even the slightest movement. That was why she picked up on his gaze shifting to her fingers pulling the strings that held her pants tight around her hips and she had to suppress a grin as she looked back up at him. She had to admit that even though she said she didn’t care, not getting her own room was seriously annoying her but she refused to let that show on her face, even when he shrugged at her. Her words at least had some effect on him as he scratched his head and doubt was slightly visible. ”Sure you will, and if not… you can always take off some clothes,” her words sounded while she repressed a grin and instead just arched an eyebrow at him. She most definitely wouldn’t mind him taking off some clothes. Over the years, the woman had learned to dress with a lot of layers so she could switch it around when the climate changed while traveling but this man obviously wasn’t planning on that with that fur.

Again, she caught his glance going towards her, or her bow to be more precise and she quickly put it away. ”What do you mean don’t start?” The fact that she was just mocking him at this point was blatantly clear. ”I thought you wanted to get started now?” she continued in that same obnoxious tone. It had become her sworn duty to annoy the man all the way to Ashax and back up, just because only the sight of his face annoyed her at that point. Once in the saddle of her steed, she rolled her eyes at him. ”You know this is how I get declared a free woman again right? Why the actual fuck would I pull something funny?” she spoke while putting the last two words in between air quotation marks. The lord or as the lord commander called him, Apollo, had denied her request for another babysitter so she was going to make sure that he remembered it. Once outside of the borders of the rather busy capital of the Highlands, she spurred her bay mare on, and the equine shot off. Her blue eyes went over her shoulder, ”Going to keep up or are you going to lose your detail on the very first day?” she teasingly asked before picking up even more pace.

’Hmm sure, you would like that.’ The man shook his head. Yes, he was well aware of the fact that he was overdressed. But well, he would manage one way or another. And yes, he could always throw of some clothes. Would probably start with the fur soon enough. And besides there were his lighter garments already, since it was still summer. Though she would probably deem it as winter here, but hey for them this was rather warm to go with.

Shortly the man raised an eyebrow. This would be a long trip if she was set on acting like that the whole way through. And from what he already knew about her, which wasn’t a whole lot she would probably do everything she could to make this the most difficult trip ever. But hey, two could play that game in the end. Eventually they walked out of the inn, a short smirk falling over his lips. ’Let’s say I’ve got a gut feeling about that.’ Sure sure, this was here ticket out of her hated North, but that didn’t mean she would just go with the flow. Or so he thought. Soon enough they were on their way and had gotten out of the city quite fast. Thank the gods. Or well, maybe not just thank them right away. As she shot off he smirked. Spurring on the white stallion to follow her. Immediately taking off so he could ride next to her. ’Hmm, don’t test Artrax here.’ The white steed ran passed them. The horse thrived in things like this. Mainly because he used Artrax for both hunting and combat training which often involved chasing things around. So the speed of the white animal was actually quite high. Certainly in conditions like this. Surely when they headed further down South the animal would probably get it a bit more difficult but even then..

The blonde looked at him with a grin before letting her gaze slide over his upper body. ”I’m not one to lie, so no, I wouldn’t mind you taking your clothes off,” she answered him. There was no point in denying that Willa liked Alec, or well his body. No, not even that because that smug face of his was already annoying the hell out of her. He seemed rather confident that he would be surviving this but dragging around the weight of half a horse in fur would only slow them down in the end.

He had ticked her off, really ticked her off, something that hadn’t happened in years and she planned on making him pay for that. It seemed that he was onto her plans to make this trip unpleasant for him and she chuckled. ”A gut feeling hmm? Is that what we call it these days?” There had been no chance of her not making that sound suggestive. Almost as soon as she had gone off with her ride, he had appeared next to her again and she chuckled. ”I’m not testing anybody here,” she answered with a tone that told everybody that she was lying, she was checking how the Lord Commander would react to her doing things like this. The white horse was an incredible animal, but Willa wondered how long his stamina would last in the heat of more Southernly weather.

For a while they kept the high pace they were going at. The blonde had caught up with the man and his steed, but she hadn’t tried to pass him again. As the terrain got more and more uneven while closing in on Ironwood Forest, Willa pulled back on the rains, slowing her horse down to a slow trot and eventually a walk. Her eyes were constantly scanning their surroundings. She was used to travelling alone so she never lost sight of what was happening around her. ”So, what do you plan on doing hmm, babysitter? We camping in the forest or riding through to Silvershire?” her voice held minimal respect. A fact that got highlighted by her use of the word babysitter. It wasn’t because she had fun racing her horse along the plains of the Highlands that she started liking being watched over like a fugitive and she planned on making that abundantly clear.

That was a glimpse of honesty he hadn’t expected. Though it did make the corner of his mouth shoot up for a few seconds. Maybe this wasn’t so bad yet? Though he was rather careful with that thought. Mainly because he didn’t know Ellie just yet. Who knows what kind of annoying tricks she would pull out of the bag? She had a point about the furs. But if he needed too he could throw them off, he didn’t care for stuff like that. Though he would probably never admit that that she actually was right. Just not to grant her that victory.

Alec softly shook his head at her next words, that sounded rather suggestive. He’d shot her down once, would a second time happen? Probably, but maybe not on his side. Who knew. It would be a long trip with multiple nights spend in the same space as her. ’What do you suggest I’d call it hm?’ He had gotten right next to her quite quickly again chuckling because of her words. Sure she wasn’t, not yet at least. But she probably wouldn’t even wait to long with truly testing him. ’Undoubtedly you’re going to. It’s just a matter of time or are you going to prove me wrong?’ Surely she wouldn’t. If he remembered anything from the night before, it was that the woman was set on making his life a living hell.

The high pace she was going in actually made him smile. He watched the muscles of his horse rolling underneath him, the wind smacking him in the face. But it was a lovely feeling nonetheless. As soon as the ground became a bit more uneven, he pulled in the reigns slowing Artrax down as he looked over his shoulder to Willa, who was doing the same. His blue eyes went over the surroundings soon enough, scanning for anything that didn’t belong there. Here question made him raise an eyebrow. ’Already want to camp hm?’ He raised an eyebrow as he thought it over. Maybe it was better riding on until they reached the Silvershire. Scouting cities and the environment. That was his main task, babysitting her was just a side thing. ’Listen I like this just as much as you do. But I’ve got my orders. What do you want to do? Camping or finding an inn in Silvershire?’

Her blue eyes slid over to him as he shook his head. Was that amusement or annoyance? Either would do for now because it at least meant that she was keeping him busy. ”No idea sir, call it whatever you want: gut feeling, sixth sense, fuckery sensors, whatever,” the blonde listed some options. A fake innocent smile was forced upon her lips while her eyes showed life and mischief because of the words she was going to speak: ”Who knows? I might or might not pull something funny. I might or might not surprise you and prove you wrong. Life’s a mystery isn’t it?”Speaking in riddles wasn’t her thing but for once it seemed appropriate for her to do so.

The horses slowed down as the terrain became too uneven and Willa breathed in deeply, subtle smells predicting that they had left the ice-cold region and were slowly coming closer to warmer places. The blonde was scanning her surroundings while also keeping an eye on her warden. He might not seem all that dangerous, but you could never be safe enough when it came to people who had already threatened with killing her once before. His reaction to her question made her frown before rolling her eyes. ”I was thinking of using whatever daylight we have left but if you are tired, we can stop here,” the blonde answered in an arrogant tone with an obnoxious grin. The fact that he was thinking something over, was plain on his face and she in turn raised an eyebrow. ”Like? I assume you mean dislike? Because I can list a whole bunch of things I like to do more than being watched over by someone who looks like he killed of a whole family of bunnies to keep himself warm and is still butthurt over it.” Those words sounded but in fact she was probably the only one being butthurt over something. ”Assuming that the Lord Commander is not really here to babysit someone who tried, again tried, to kill a measly soldier… I’d like to camp in the forest,” just to make his actual job more difficult because the blonde really liked a bed to sleep in.

Alec listened to her for once. And yes although he was finding this quite funny to begin with he was keeping an eye on her nonetheless. One slip up could mean his head on a pike and that was something he didn’t want. He still had a few ambitions to follow up on. The look in her eyes didn’t mean he had an easy trip going for him. But honestly right now in this particular moment when she wasn’t even being half as obnoxious as before, he didn’t care. ’Sure, if you want to play it that way fine by me Ellie.’ The man softly shook his head, a small grin visible on his face.

The region changed ever so slightly. Sure it was still cold, but there was a warmer breeze here already. Not that it bothered him right now. Maybe when the sun would be piercing through but with fall up ahead he doubted that the sun would burn as hard. When her voice sounded the man raised an eyebrow, not giving a flying fart about the arrogant tone she was talking in. ’That’s not what I meant.’ He shook his head. When the woman started giving off on him he chuckled softly. She was right in assuming, he had just mixed up his words right there. But the most funny thing of it all was the fact that she called him a killer of bunnies, or well that he looked like one. Point taken. But it amused him nonetheless. Sure there was an underlying message underneath it all, one that was quite clear on it but he decided not to act on it. For his own sake maybe. ’I’ll lose the bunnies once I’m ready. Maybe that will lighten my mood. What will you do about yours?’ Alec playfully raised an eyebrow. Two could play that game. ’Fine the forest it is, but let’s go on for a bit hm. Until darkness falls.’ Which had been his plan all along but hey, here’s to drawing assumptions.

Ellie… Ah, yes, Ellie. She had forgotten that she still hadn’t given her name to the man and she laughed because of it. ”Yes, I want to play it that way, thank you, Alec” his name got spoke slower and a little bit clearer with a grin on her face. She did know his and she was planning on making that abundantly clear to the man. It gave him just a little bit less power over her and that made her feel better.

Arrogance and disrespect in her voice didn’t make any difference to him, that was very clear to her already but that didn’t mean that she would change that. The blonde was still rather pissed off at the way he had handled her the day before and it would take some days, at least, for her to get over that bruise on her ego. ”Sure, whatever you say. There’s no shame in being tired though” she talked in a tone that sounded almost belittling. This was going to be her way of having fun for the duration of her trip. Blue eyes gazed at his face, trying to pick up on the slightest appearance of annoyance but instead she found amusement and that in turn bothered her a little. His ask made her arch an eyebrow before talking with a grin, ”Oh, for me to lighten this mood… nothing you can help me with I’m afraid.” Her gaze sparked with rudeness. ”But maybe when we stop in a city, you’ll see a more pleasant me in the morning,” she spoke, again with that suggestive tone in her voice, ”Though I’m afraid that being watched over might sour that mood again” she continued while rolling her eyes. The blonde didn’t answer him, just nodding while spurring her horse on a bit more while they entered the forest. She didn’t go to ride too close to him, almost counting on being ambushed and being able to get away from her babysitter.

Maybe he could get something more out of this damned trip. Surely it wouldn’t be easy. But apart from her whole arrogant attitude Ellie actually had seemed like a descent person. With a skillset he could actually appreciate. Yes, he could maybe start actually learning to appreciate her more. Though she was going to make that very difficult for him. That much was sure. But who knows what time might bring? Though he wasn’t holding up his hopes for them to become actual friends. In that way he couldn’t actually get disappointed, her words made him shrug. Fine, that was her thing. If she wanted to actually continue playing this game of hers that would be completely up to her. She would deal with the consequences in the end.

The man did roll his eyes at her comment. Oh boy, she was getting annoying again already. But apart from the eye roll he chose to ignore the words completely. She was the one who was actually making things much more difficult for herself. She said camping, camping it clearly was. And it would be for the rest of the journey if she kept it up like this. How sad. She continued talking with a grin on her face, making him raise an eyebrow. Not able to help her out ey? Keep believing that little girl. ’Too bad we’re camping then.’ The man softly smirked, pushing her buttons again. ’That’s too bad for you then. Cause there is no ways that were having separate rooms if we were ever heading to an inn that was.’ The man concluded riding along, keeping his blue eyes focused on his surrounding. The forest was surely known for ambushed and he wasn’t planning on actually riding into on. Ellie kept her distance from him, which was the smartest thing to do. Not that he expected any help from her if it came down to an ambush she would probably disappear of into the forest and never look back.

Seeing him roll his eyes, just made her smirk as if she had just won a battle. Well, the blonde might’ve won the battle but there was still a whole war in front of them. She wasn’t going to say that word out loud because she didn’t want to trigger his Northern side, but this trip felt like a war to the woman. Apart from that sign of annoyance, he didn’t show anything but for now her annoying side had been satisfied. If there was one thing she really couldn’t stop doing, it was saying things that sounded too suggestive to be counted as appropriate. As the man raised his eyebrow, Willa wanted to read his thoughts, wanted to know what he was saying to her in his head. ”Too bad for the person who has to deal with my mood,” she fluently countered. His smirk was answered with the corners of her mouth curling upward in that same way. A sigh rolled over her lips as he started back up about her not having a room to herself in an inn. ”That does make it a little more difficult but we’ll see about that once we actually reach an inn, if that’s okay with you?” While the words she spoke might seem respectful enough, her voice sounded like a lot but not respectful in the least.

Ironwood forest, a place she tried to avoid when she was travelling alone. She didn’t feel the need to get ambushed and robbed of the coins she worked so hard for to gain. But as they were walking through it, she was just more on edge, keeping an eye on her surroundings even more. Her feet dangled next to her stirrups as she casually held the reigns in one hand and twirled a coin around in the other. They travelled on in silence until the sun started disappearing and the forest seemed to lose all color as darkness shrouded itself over it. The blonde pulled her reigns, stopping her horse as she heard water running nearby. Willa didn’t yell out to Alec nor did she make clear that she had stopped, assuming he’d notice. ”This is a good spot” she just said and hopped down from her horse.

’Yeah too bad indeed.’ The man shortly smirked. There was no way in the world that he would actually let her have a room all for herself. He wasn’t that stupid and second of all if she truly thought that he was that awful he would make her come back on that thought every once in a while by just making things worse. Something that she had sought out completely on her own. ’Noted, but with you wanting to camp I think I changed my mind on actually reaching an inn during this whole trip.’ The man grinned at her, not entirely sure if he was joking himself but hey if she could taunt him than he could actually do the same.

The forest it wasn’t his favorite road to take down south. Most of the time if he had to go somewhere he followed the less travelled paths just because that was in a way safer. Not that an ambush had ever fallen over him but he had heard numerous stories. So yes, he kept an eye out. Him and Ellie haven’t gotten off on the right foot, but that didn’t mean that he would actually let something happen to her. That would be an utter shame. It would make his life a whole lot easier but that was one of the things he couldn’t actually do. But who knows what would happen when she agitated him? The sun started setting, which brought a cold breeze with it. Alec was rather happy with his bunny collection right now. Hooves had stopped stamping on the ground, making him look over his shoulder and actually turn his horse around. Getting of the white horse, shortly nodding at her words. He had grabbed Artrax his reigns and had walked the steed over towards Ellie. ’You hungry?’

The blonde really didn’t see the problem with having a room of her own. It wasn’t like she was planning on running off because she was in dire need of the freedom lord Freyr had promised her. Stating that he was going to disregard inns for the rest of the trip made her arch an eyebrow at him. He wasn’t serious right? Willa preferred sleeping outside because it was cheaper, but never sleeping in a bed for the whole trip that was to come, she wasn’t all too happy about that. Her eyebrow arched, refusing to show her disappointment on her face. ”Why would you change your mind? It seems like a great way to gather information for your lord?” And that was his task right? Or at least that was what Willa has convinced herself off, that sending her out to take the life of a random vindictive woman was just a cover up.

Willa’s blue eyes were constantly scanning the surroundings while also imagining how she’d escape if an ambush happened in that moment. Even if they got ambushed, she was sure that the Lord Commander of the Highlands could get himself out of such a situation on his own and she could go on with life. And if he didn’t, Willa could go tell Apollo the goo… no, bad news. As she stopped his horse, the man didn’t miss a beat before looking at her over his shoulder while she hopped off her horse. Willa went on with tying the reins around a nearby tree, close enough to water so the horse could drink and taking the saddle off. The word hungry made her look up, ”I might be,” was her short answer as she turned back to him. Yes, she was hungry, incredibly hungry even but she wasn’t yet sure if she trusted the man enough to eat any food he’d give her. ”But it depends though, plan on poisoning me?” She asked as a precaution while drinking some water from the big water bottle hanging from her saddle.

As she raised an eyebrow at him, he knew he had struck a cord with that remark about them not going to an inn for the whole trip. Amusement was visible in his eyes as the woman started talking. ’I’ve got other ways to do that as well Ellie.’ He reassured her. Did he actually? Who knew but the man had an exquisite poker face for that matter so she wouldn’t find out. ’Or does the lady want a nice bed to sleep on?’ Oh yes, he was having fun with this. But really she had brought this on herself with choosing the actual camping situation instead of riding on to Silvershire. Alas. Choices were made and unfortunately for her it didn’t work in her advantage.

Being ambushed was such a hassle. Surely the man could defend himself. But with Ellie most likely running away he had to search for her and ugh, that would be a drag for real. So yeah he kept an eye out, his hand lingering on his sword while riding. She had jumped off her horse and he had done the same, tying the reigns of his horse to another tree next to hers. Grabbing the saddle of the white animals back so he could rest properly. When she turned back to him he raised a brow to her words, searching for what he was looking for in his saddle bag at the same time. Ah yes, it surely wasn’t much that he had taken with. Only necessities. Dried meat and a bunch of fruits. ’Depends, you planning on killing me?’ He spoke a hint of amusement in his eyes. ’But no, I’m not planning on doing that. I got dried meat or fruit, it’s your pick.’ He calmly stated as he pulled out the neatly packaged pieces of meat and fruit out of the saddlebag. Which would make the weight that Artrax had to carry around much less.

A soft chuckle sounded from her lip. ”I don’t doubt that but you and I both know that’s the easiest way” she answered him. Willa had enough experience gathering information to know that just hanging out in an inn was more than enough to gather whatever you needed. Him asking if she wanted a bed made her laugh. It wasn’t his question that made her see the humor, but it was the fact that he called her a lady. It took her a couple of minutes to calm down and when she finally did, she was still chuckling. ”I don’t know which lady you’re talking to but who doesn’t prefer a bed over the cold hard ground?” she answered his question in a nonchalant yet true manner.

Willa chuckled at his answer, good call sir. ”I’m sorry, I can’t share that information with you. Any vindictive exes out there? One of them might’ve hired me in the meantime,” a grin lined her face while talking to him. No, nobody had come to her with the task of killing Alec Winchester but that didn’t mean she wasn’t going to keep him on his toes. He had meat, something Willa was one, too greedy to buy and two, too much on the road for to actually get her hands on. Hunting was something she only did when she couldn’t get food any other way. ”I won’t say no to some meat,” she finally answered him while taking her own fruit from her saddle bag. ”You can keep the fruit though, I brought that myself,” she continued, refusing to accept actual help from the man in any way.
