It was dawn, and a soft morning light made itself known through the windows of her home. The building was large enough for the young girl to have her own room, made for a child her age born to a Common House. Her father had been seemingly busy with teaching her older brothers as well as leading The Last Hearth. Home tended to be cold, but the warmth from her fathers heart and protectiveness made up for it in tenfold. The brown haired Linnéa had woken up at the brink of dawn, which she usually did. As she had not yet reached an age in which she wished to be a lazy butt. Even though the child had enough to do during the days, as her parents tried to upbring her in a fair but still stern way. She knew the rules and bounderies, the limitations her parents had told her to keep in mind. Although she sometimes slipped up, in her carefree behaviour, she tended not to forget it. The young child had yet to speak a lie, for she never went out of her way to hide the truth of her actions. Her father might have been firm, but she did not fear him. He loved his children and wife.

It did not take long for the tiny girl, to change into her daily dress. One that was not yet stained with mud or snow. She always managed to come home with some strange stains in her dresses. It was a wonder no one had asked her too much about her adventures. However the child did not tend to hang about on her own. She would not leave her father's eyes without a Guard nearby to protect her, a soft sigh escaped her lips while she made her way to find her father. It had been a while since she had last spoken him without others around. When his advisors or visitors would be with him; she could not climb up in his lap and hug him. She missed her large bear, her papa. She tended to be on her best behaviour if someone needed to be impressed with her; although she also tended to give those with awfully difficult names, nicknames. At least most did not mind because of her age. The child moved her pale blue gaze towards one of the Guards while she spoke with a soft lilt in her voice. 'Is Father present?' She asked, could he be disturbed from his daily activities? When the man merely nodded his head and knocked on the door before opening it, the young girl timidly stepped forward before a smile seemed to lighten up her young and innocent face. 'Father!' She exclaimed happily while rushing towards his large figure. Shortly after which she threw her short arms around him in a fierce hug. The Guard would keep it silent, right?

Arvyd had been halfway through his breakfast when one of his men had entered his home, notifying him of some petty squabble that had gone down in the centre of the city. A fight between two members of separate families that had been long-time rivals. They were The Last Hearth’s only butchers and frequently fell out about whose meat was of more superior quality. The two men often caused trouble in the city and it was pretty agonizing. So, Arvyd had gotten up from his table and made his way over to the city’s main square.

Separating the two fighting men had been easy for someone of his size, but making sense of what had actually happened, was damn near impossible. After almost an hour of trying to comprehend the two angry, yelling men, Arvyd had gathered that one of them had stolen a goat from the other a long time ago, but the other man said that the goat hadn’t in fact been stolen, but had simply come back home since it had been his in the first place. There was no end to their dull stories and Arvyd couldn’t help but feel that they were purposefully wasting his time. In the end, to solve the dispute once and for all, he had fetched his war axe and chopped the goat in half, right there on the city’s main square. He had then given each butcher one half of the goat, and told them to just get lost and salvage whatever meat they could from the mangled carcass. Hopefully that would teach them to not bother him with such trivial matters again.

With a fair share of goat blood splattered onto him, he walked back home to finish the remainder of his breakfast, if someone else hadn’t already. Once he opened the door, he was immediately welcomed by his youngest daughter, who rushed over to hug him. He wanted to return the favour, but he was more than filthy, so he gently pushed her off. “Not right now, Linnéa,” he urged her. “I need to change first.” He didn’t want to expose his six-year old daughter to this kind of horrific violence just yet. He needed to get rid of the bloody armour first. Then he could finally get back into his role as a father.

It seemed that she had not been the only one that had awakened early that morning. Her father looked like he had been visiting a slaughter house, seeing that much blood on his clothes was something that the young girl still was not used too, however he did not seem wounded and she had not been that focused upon the state of his clothing. If he had hurt himself, her father would have been taken care of right now, and not returned towards this part of their home. When the young child tried to embrace him, he gently pushed her away from his bloodied clothes. 'Not right now, Linnéa,' he calmly urged her. 'I need to change first.' The child frowned slightly before she nodded in a calm and understanding manner. Blue eyes moved up towards the brown ones of her father before she crossed her arms. 'Good morning,' She finally stated while looking at his atire again. His armour had seen better days, she still did not know all the hardships that her father did face daily. However for her he was more then a Lord, he was that one person that she could curl up against at night whenever she had a nightmare, or that could teach her how to be a good lady. Even though she was the youngest of the bunch. That being said, she wished to make him proud and that meant listening to his every word. Still frowning for she wanted nothing more then climbing upon his lap and hugging him, the young girl moved towards the table and climbed upon one of the chairs instead.

'Father? Do you have time today?' She asked in a soft voice, knowing that his job could take hours to perform. She understood it partly, but was still just a child. One that wished her parents home with her, safe and sound. Her older brother Connor was also one that seemd to be busy lately, maybe because he was the heir and needed to be able to do the same things as her father did. That being said, she still missed him as well. Her blue eyes moved towards the plates while she tried to ignore her rumbling stomach. She was still growing and as such loved to eat quite a bit. Especially if early mornings meant a bit more time with her father on her own. He was in her opinion a wonderful man, although he had the ability to be stern, just like her mother. She adored the both of them and wished to be just like them when she was older. At six years, she was too young to understand the possible outcomes of growing up in The Last Hearth, she loved her home even though it tended to be very cold. Her heart was one of gold, and she had to learn eventually that not all would be well at all times. However right now, she was just a child enjoying the early morning hours with a father that tended to be rushing about quite often. She loved those short hours that she could spend with him, even if he was dirty.

The Lord loathed days like these. He would much rather spend his days doing something constructive than having to sit through petty squabbles that could easily be solved between the two parties. But no, they had to go and get him involved as well. He’d listened to both stories for longer than he had wanted to. There had been no way to make out which one was a lie, and which one the truth. So, eventually, he had decided to just split the source of their banter in half, which just so happened to be a goat. As if it wasn’t bad enough, neither party had been particularly happy with Arvyd’s final decision. But his will was law in these lands, so they were just going to have to deal with it.

Arvyd was in a foul mood when he came home. He didn’t smile often to begin with, but his expression was even darker than normally right now. It softened up when he entered his home and was greeted by his youngest daughter. She hugged him, but he wouldn’t have it with the way he looked right now. He didn’t need Linnéa smeared in goat’s blood. She understood the hint, and he smiled a little. “Good morning to you, too,” he muttered, walking into their home further. He made his way up to the room he shared with Karina, shedding the dirty leather armour. He grabbed a fresh linen shirt out of their drawers and put it on. At least he felt a little bit more human that way. He walked out of the room again, back to Linnéa. The young girl asked him then if he had time today. He let out a deep breath. “Depends. Time for what?” he asked her. There were plenty of things that he needed to do, but him being the Lord, he could decide himself when he was going to do them. He made his way over to the hearth. The linen shirt wasn’t exactly bringing him much heat, and standing around in the cold for the past two hours hadn’t helped much either. He pulled up a chair nearby the hearth, watching the crackling fire for a little while before he motioned for Linnéa to come over.

As a child it was easy to be light hearted, and not to understand the true hardships of a Lord or Lady. Her parents had all the more reason to be stern and fair towards their children. Although Linnéa rarely did raise trouble around the household, the same could not have been said for her older brother Espen. He was one that had not carried the soft heart through harsh predictments. The young child had a lot to learn, however she was one that did listen to her father most of the time and would not scream or yell at people because she thought them to be unfair. However, she was a child that could be mischievous, she loved a good prank on her time. The youngest daughter did know that she had to be honest when one prank would go too far, or raised to much of a problem and would then resort to being punished fairly by her parents. She was not one to lie, and as such her parents could put trust in their young daughter. However, being honest could also bring different troubles, for she would sometimes be too honest to someone. Lies could be needed in times of war to keep the citizens from running amok. As such the young lady did not tell her father to spend time with her, however she did ask in her sweet lilted voice. Hoping that she could in fact spend the day around him, with his calming presence near and keep a small smile on his face. Something he did not do often enough in her opinion, smile. There might not be much to laugh about, however she loved making her parents happy and proud more then anything else in the world. As such when he told her that she had to wait for an embrace, she did so without asking any other questions besides wishing him a good morning and asking for his time.

Her father had smiled slightly when he noticed that his young daughter did get the hint. 'Good morning to you, too,' He muttered before he moved further down the hallways towards his own room. Linnéa knew that he would come back when he was finished cleaning himself up after whatever he had done. Luckily none of the blood had been transferred towards her own still clean clothes which made her rest her body in one of the many chairs. She did not want to go the the warmth of the hearth yet, she wished to wait for her father to come back and spend some time with her. Even if it was only during breakfast. Her father had changed his attire, he did not wear any armor anymore, instead he had taken a clean linnen shirt and made his way towards his young daughter. She slowly asked her most important question, the question about his day, his plans. She wished to have her own fitted in with his, however she knew more then anyone that she could not ask too much. He had enough to do and in the end she wanted him to be happy as well. He loved her, that was for sure and she knew how important the Last Hearth was for him and her family. As such she waited patiently for his answer, too patiently for a girl her age maybe. 'Depends. Time for what?' He asked her. after which Linnéa frowned shortly. 'I wished to go outside and maybe walk around a bit and learn more about our family.' She whispered, of course he probably knew that she was no fan of her teachers, however the fact that she wished to listen to something she would call dull just to spend time with her father would say a lot. She had missed him. Meanwhile the Lord had pulled a chair near the hearth, while watching the crackling fire before he motioned for her. The young child managed to climb down her chair fairly easily before making her way towards him. Her eyes were filled with warmth and adoration for her father before she tried to climb upon his lap.
