PERSONALITY ♘
Essentially unwilling to be controlled, either by others or circumstances; he fully intends to be master of his own fate. He is strong willed, decisive, practical, tough minded and energetic. He also tends to be domineering; his unwillingness to be controlled by others frequently manifests in the need to control others instead. He knows how to promote himself and his interests, pushing others to pursue his aim with devotion.
He has powerful instincts and strong physical appetites which he indulges without feelings of shame or guilt, not believing in any form of self-denial. He wants a lot out of life and feels fully prepared to go out and get it, mostly concerned about his life being an exciting adventure. He is, however, future oriented, restless as he is convinced that something better is just around the corner. He's a quick thinker who thrives when making plans.
He has a hard time lowering his defenses in intimate relationships. Intimacy involves emotional vulnerability and such vulnerability is one of the his deepest fears. He is prone to anger. When severely provoked, or when the personality is unbalanced, bouts of anger can turn into rages. Because he refuses to confront his own dark emotions, he has a difficulty acknowledging the pain that others experience. The extent of his flight from negative emotions is a measure of his mental health; the more that he flees from them, the more their strength grows and the more likely they are to erupt into an episode of anger or depression.
HISTORY ♘
Thomas is born a bastard to Asher Fabron, cared for by a mother who had been naught but a few nights of pleasure to the man. She had told her son who his father was the day she fell ill, telling him that he could leave her to die and find his father, so that he could live a life of riches. She had never been rich, after all, paying the bills with her body and barely getting around to get them both fed every day. Most of her money went to his education, where she had convinced him to get daily classes from a well-known man, who taught him to read and write, as well as to calculate. He also got taught in history and politics, to ensure him a future better than that of his mom.
When she fell ill, he refused to stand by and watch, nor was he going to take her offer. He started stealing and soon thereafter, fighting. He brought in money, medicine and food. Yet, his mother did not get better. It was not enough; none of it was. He joined a gang of thieves, knowing full well that strength lies in numbers. While he felt like he outsmarted them all, he did not tell them. He let them believe that he was one of them, slowly climbing his way up, while his mother's health went downhill.
By the time she died, the Tommy that had once been, was no more. He gives his life to pleasure and passion. He spends his time arranging the finances of his leader. A boring job to one, but knowing every penny that comes in and out of an organisation, is a position of power that he can thrive on. Yet, this is not enough for the man. While he drinks and whores his free time away, he plans to have his name screamed through the cities, to put the fear of god into every man who awakens his anger.
TIMELINE ♘
Thomas meets his father for the first time when he is about to be hanged for his crimes. He tells him who he is and while the man does not believe him at first, the mention of his mother is enough to reveal the truth. The hanging is cancelled and the two head to his office, where Thomas decides to throw Kaz to the wolves. He strikes a deal with Asher, telling him how to get the man and his bunch out of his city.
Thomas meets a few people around this time. When he’s on his way to the Sylversword Tournament, he visits the place where his best friend works. They head to Wineport. Here, he sees his ex again. Afterwards, in dire need of a drink, the young man meets a new girl: Amelia Pelletier. She somehow convinces him to break into a place, which goes wrong in so many ways, only to find out she’s his half-sister at the end. The two separate ways after.
The tournament is rather uneventful. On his way back, Thomas goes to see his horses and meets Aislin Spring. After, he goes back to the Ruby Bay. He has an eventful night with Asher and finds himself locked up in a jail after. He lets Nox stay with him for a while and gets into a fight with Kaz, after which he officially leaves the Division. He decides to stay allied with them, however. He tells Milo all about his stories and meets his uncle, Midas Hargrove. He heads to the ball with Nox and Milo, but leaves before the Murder ends the night.
When he says goodbye to Nox again, Thomas meets Raziel Arlington. It is during this meeting that he comes up with a new idea. To combine his dreams of happiness with his dreams of gold. He buys a racecourse and spends the next few months arranging for it to be absolutely perfect. He finds people to work with him. He visits the Highlands for a short while, but returned grumpier than ever before.
Times look up for the young man as he opens up his track. People come from far and wide and it is an absolute success. With the help of Riley Quinn, he manages to have his own horse win the race, instantly cutting all losses by the amount of drinks sold and the bets that were placed. He hires more people. When snow falls in the Evergreen, the track has to close down for a while, but the inn and bar keep making enough money to keep it all running.
Nox returns and the two of them watch Stormbringer and Sunchaser battle up close, barely making it out without a scratch. He takes her home and lets her into his life, for whatever good or bad that might bring. Now that his life is only looking up, he is looking to face some challenges. And it seems like he knows just where to find them...
Trivia
♔ Thomas has had commitment issues ever since his mother died. This causes him to flee, rather than to invest in a worthwhile commitment.
♔ He’s uncomfortable around dogs. While it isn’t exactly fear, he’d rather keep them far away from him.
♔ He’s an excellent accountant. Numbers make far more sense to him than people ever will.
♔ Ever since he was young, he’s loved horses. He currently owns five, but wants to expand.
♔ He now owns a racing track (as well as an inn and bar) on the King’s Road between Wineport and Riverhold.
♔ There is more smoke than air in his lungs with the amount of cigarettes he goes through every day.
♔ To add to unhealthy habits, he also drinks. A lot. For every emotion ever felt. Whether it be anger, sadness, uncertainty or happiness. He’s always drinking.
