The abandoned house had a sadness looming over it. Like a storm that could hit you with it’s lightning at any storm, yet, being completely silent. The life in the house had found a home elsewhere. Yet, the house could not forget what it once was, and still tried to radiate with replications of life. Making it look even more empty. Tuli didn’t touch anything the former owners had left behind. It wasn’t the time. He wasn’t even sure if he was the right person to take or use anything. Suddenly he felt a wave of energy luring him to the back door of the house. When he opened it, it looked like he had entered a completely different world. Still cold, and still very white with snow. But this garden.. was something he had never see before. As if it had maintained itself partially. Still with paths, now looking more daring, but still paths. With trees which you could see anywhere else, but with different personalities instead. And hedges, as wild and as tall as the trees itself. He walked into the garden, through the hedge, taking a left at the first tree. He was set on discovery. What secrets could be held here? What emotions could be trapped? What memories could be forgotten? All in one place.

" we drink the poison our minds pour for us and wonder why we feel sick."

Imagine a place, something perfect and untouchable. Something created by your own imagination filled in with that what you most desire. Plants, trees, river streams, mountains. Add the persons that you love and the buildings that you like and you have yourself a perfect place to hide. Most of these places only take place in people's minds. Or even in their dreams. But this. This was something real. Something that had to be treasured. The small subtle weathered paths that would lead you to another part of the garden. The many dark green spruce trees that stood fierce in contrast with the white crisp layer of snow. It almost reminded her of the gardens in the south. Though she had never seen them she had definitely read about them and examined some drawings as well. The many patterns that went on and on. The endless wandering of lords and ladies striking their poses and pretending to be something they are not. She had read it all. And while she loved the gardens her thoughts about the so called 'royals' were not that positive. Not that it mattered. After all she was here all the way to the north. Safely hidden behind layers and layers of snow.

No royal with an overly expensive dress who dared to show their face here. She chuckled softly as the thought crossed her mind and her blue gaze started to wander over the landscape again. She followed the patterns of the path that almost seemed to mapped out for her. As if someone was maintaining it without anyone knowing. Perhaps the garden was maintaining itself. Milla would not be surprised. But then again her imagination sometimes took a lead. Besides that she had never seen another living soul around here. So she could think, speak and scream whatever she wanted. No one would hear her. After all the garden seemed large enough. Great as she smiles extensively.

Cold, gentle, unshaken. Those are the words he would use to describe what it felt like to interact with this garden. The leaves he had to push away. The paths singing. The disinterest of the snow. A place where a giant like him felt at home. Not quite among the people of busy cities, and not quite surrounded by lonely creepers. A different plane of existance. He took in the smell of the white trees and kept walking until he stopped himself. There was a single cord, hung between two trees, with a lantern haning in the middle. Tuli picked up a log he found on the side of the garden and put it in the middle of the path. He sat down and stared at the unlit lantern. The entrance back to the normal world, he thought. A memory was attached to this lantern. He didn't know what, when or why. But he could feel it. A warm memory. A memory of love and loss and birth and death and sorrow. The good kind. The kind that reminds you of your own existance. The kind that breathes life into your very soul. You can go forward. You just have to be. He sighed happily. You don't always need to know things to appreciate them. You just have to see them. Know that something is there. He could stare at it all day, like one in the south could stare at a field of flowers all day. Taking in the individual beauty of them all.

" we drink the poison our minds pour for us and wonder why we feel sick."

Somehow she always wondered what others would think of this place. Perhaps she had to take her brother here someday. And yet she would not dare to bring him here. He did not feel very well for the past couple of weeks. So maybe this would only make it worse. But then again, he could not hide forever behind the stone walls? He light coloured eyes gazed back at the landscape and with every step she took she became more lost in her thoughts and her forever wandering. She was always brooding, always imagining things. Some things that could not ever see daylight. Others were lighter and more airy. Like a person that wondered what the weather would do tomorrow. Or what they were going to eat for dinner. You could probably say that she was a bit of a twisted personality. Always struggling with the colder side versus the lighter one. A wall, that would be the correct name for it. A thick and large stronghold not many could ever enter.

She sighs when her eyes searched for the right path. The one she always took with the little lantern she would often lit when the evening would fell. Her gaze quickly went up the sky, but all she could see was a grey roof above her. Not really aware of time at this point Carmilla moved on when in her light coloured gaze appeared a silhouette of a man. Her immediate reaction would be to stop her pace and wait. But instead of doing so she just slowed down her steps. The man didn’t seem like he was here to kill or hunt for that matter. So her eyes swiftly went up the lantern back towards the silhouette. Seemed like someone else had found their way to this treasure. Something that stirred up her curiosity Never thought I would see another living soul around here. she claimed cheekily.

He wasn't in Avalance, now was he? Then he suddenly frowned. It wasn't his own anymore. Someone had entered the fray. He closed his eyes and calmed himself down again. One can never be sure for how long any given experience will last. Although sometimes he wished he could decide that for himself. He rubbed his gloves together. There was no need for it, but it soothed him. Then a voice broke a rift in what he had created. The world he had created before, was officially crumbling. A steady destruction. He wasn't angry or sad. Nor was he upset. "The Omsan is a creature who can call into existance anything it imagines. He's an honest little chap too." He said. When he spoke, he never took his eyes off the lantern. He just had to see if there was anything he could still hold on too. Just a little feeling. But he couldn't. He stood up and put the log back at the edge of the path. The lantern only just didn't hit his head. That's how high up it was. The he stared at the woman with cold eyes.

" we drink the poison our minds pour for us and wonder why we feel sick."

If you told her she would find another person in this secret little place this morning she would have laughed. Or perhaps told that you were wrong. Not that it mattered now. Her curious side had always wondered what others would think of this imaginary place. So seeing him sit there would maybe give an answer to the questions she had. The man seemed to rattle some words about a creature she had never heard of. At least not in the books in her fathers library. The Omsan.. as question marks started to hover above her head she stepped closer. Placing a quick glance on the lantern, but then back towards the man who set himself in motion. It was then that she saw how tall he was. And with that the cold look on his face. But then again she was used to it. This was the north after all, and most viking like people seemed to symbolize the giants. Though she must admit she had never encountered one. Was he one? Asking him would be blunt and maybe not very wise as well. Perhaps a more subtle approach would work better. Care to tell me more about the Omsan, sir? After all she loved tales, myths and the sage in front of her seemed to know more than enough.

With every step she took towards him his stare grew warmer. Does a place really exist if there is nobody else to agree with you on its existance? The paths and the trees seemed to be delighted by her presence. His eyes turned downwards as he looked at the steps she was taking in the snow. Then back at her face. Two twirls, still unidentifiable, above her head. Singing eyes which made her question sound like the opening to an opera. Was she perhaps one of the creeps too? She couldn't be. Creeps never showed themselves and she did. Creepers who had no place in the world most people would call 'normal'. He turned his back to the lady and said: "Yes." And started walking. By this he meant, that he was going to show her. Perhaps, in this land outside of lands, he could make a person see what he could see. All the little creeps. All the stories. All the dancing spirits. "Tuli Too." He said calmly, as he was walking along a particularly bushy path. Today was a full name kind of day. He could feel it.

Not knowing whether this was a good idea or not she bluntly asked him to tell her more about the creature. She had never seen it in any book nor heard the people in the city talk about it. So it must be something special. Perhaps it was honored where the man came from. The man who still reminded her of the tales of giants and their slayer. A vague smile appeared on her pale face when he gave her a short answer. yes. Never thought he would agree with it on such a short notice, but then again. She did not knew the stranger nor did he know her. All she knew was that he was rather odd when he turned his back towards her and started walking without giving her any hint to follow. Yet, he just agreed to tell her more about the creature. Which was a hint enough for her to follow. Instead of the silence that fell between the two of them he introduced himself. Nice meeting you Tuli. as polite as she was. My name is Carmilla. leaving away the rest of her name as not much people around here cared for it anyway. She was after all 'just' the sister of the lord. Nothing she wanted to walk for sale with. What is it that seems so fascinating about the Omsan? asking him curious.

Instead of answering the follow up question Carmilla asked directly, he decided to say whatever he wished, about the Omsan. "The Omsan is a small creature." He pushed away some branches, so he could keep walking. "Not bigger than a foot tall. With bushy hair and a lot of dirt on its clothes." Then, he took one of the branches and took a few seconds to really smell it. The snow held back on its smell, while the leaves were eager to be noticed. It powered him up. The garden was granting him life energy had never felt before. Very different from the wilds. Yet, he appreciated it just as much. Then he turned around and looked at Carmilla. "The fascinating thing about him," Now in the mood to answer her question directly. ", is that he doesn't seem to know whether he is telling the truth, or when he's fibbing." Not weird, coming from a creature who makes everything exist, just by imagining it. He took the branch, and pushed it down lower, so Carmilla could smell it too.

For now it seemed like a good idea to follow Tuli. He didn't seem like the dark an brooding type while she was. If you can even say that when you barely know another person. But for now, there were no dark clouds to be seen. So for now Carmilla continued following the steps of the man. Maneuvering herself along the branches and many plants that were so carefully placed in the garden. Her eyes fell on a few small winter bells. Unique for this time at year. But, this garden was different. So maybe it wasn't so unique after all. A small creature you say? repeating his words to get a clearer image of the creature. The name didn't seem very small so she was slightly surprised to hear. Does it look like a human? Or more like a troll.. perhaps even a fairy? So many questions that were still unanswered. And she was assured to find an answer. Yet, in a instant Tuli stopped by one of the branches of a large tree. And Milla had to stop herself as well before she would stumble against him.

He turned himself towards her which gave her the opportunity to gaze at him again. Seems like a hard job to live with. knowing you were lying was one thing. But not knowing when you were your truth and honest self or lying was another. If she reflect it on herself she was pretty good at small lies. While she was able to keep a larger one a secret for a few years. Some lies were just better if none would ever find out. But you are right about that. That is quite fascinating. If not unique. The vague smile on her face came back when Tuli lowered the branch for her. The tree had some unique leaves. They were made of a darker green. The type of green you would find in dark forests. Where you are surrounded by thousands trees and not a single soul of flesh and bones around. The type of forest you would find in your dreams. The darker ones. Carmilla stepped closer so she was able to stroke her fingers over the branch and bury her nose into it's leaves. Her eyes closed for a second trying to examine the smell of it only to be opened again and she pulled herself back. Is it Cedar? asking while looking back up at the man which seemed quite hard giving that she was standing right next to him. There was a distance and familiar smell in the leaves. The one she had often smelled back in her house.

He let go of the branch and let it go about its business again. He had no right to keep it lowered forever. Tuli was thinking. The woman, Carmila, was asking a lot of questions and saying a lot. He hadn't really responded up until the point she asked about the branch. "I don't know." He said. "And an Omsan looks like an Omsan." That was all there was to say about it. And he quite felt like it was time for some change. He folded his arms and looked at the lady. Now it was time for Tuli, to be lead through this world. He waited for her to make a move. Preferrably doing something, instead of saying or asking anything. Whilst giants may be creatures of fairytale, they certainly liked to be the ones seeing magical worlds aswell. Instead of being gazed at as if they were some sort of exotic animal. People always had this look of wonder when they looked at him. But they never really saw him. Having all kinds of ideas about him, without ever really asking the right questions. Questions that would make someone get to know him. If they weren't going to look, then at least ask decent questions. He sighed quietly. He was being overdramatic. Just leave it at that.

After smelling the scenst of the tree Carmilla had waited for him to confirm her examination of the tree. But instead. She didn't get anything. Perhaps her brother would know the answer. After all, he knew the answer to anything. It became clear to her that he did not felt the need to explain anything more about the creature. Yet while he still hold her curiosity in his hands she decided it was not entirely worth waiting for. After all. There was so much more to do. And if she had to wait for an answer from the man in front of her she could probably wait until Christmas. Not that it mattered. She did not mind to be outside the walls. Especially not with someone like him around. Besides that she did not wanted to be rude. Not this time. Not today. Have you ever visited this garden before, Tuli? Slightly hesitated but she dared not to show that in her voice. She was not build to battle a war or fight with a soldier, so she had to use her words as a weapon. Not that they were needed right now as he did not seem like a threat to her. But then again, snakes hide in many places.. If not, I could show you around? after all this was almost like her second home. Maybe you'd like to see the ice sculptures? Questions were fired again, yet she could not help it. After all he had caught her attention. Besides that she had never seen another living soul around here. So he must be something unique. Someone to get to know better. Carmilla pushed a blonde lock behind her ear and gazes back at him waiting for what's next to come.

Could one visit this place more than once? No. Everytime you enter a place it is different. Do not plague yourself with the assumption that some things don't change. All things do. You are not only supposed to change along with them, you actually do. Even if you can't see it. Problems arise when one doesn't accept it. A dancer growing slow, a warrior growing frail, a wolf losing teeth. He simply shook his head. No, he had never been here before. Then she started talking about something he had never heard of. Ice sculptures. Ice, made into shapes? He imagined it'd be like art. A person, putting oneself into a shape, color, or word. This was something he would like to see. Could it be, that someone had ever sculpted a little creep? If he would ever see one? Like The Omsan? Would he sculpt it? Should he sculpt it? What is moral? He looked down again at the lady again. The choice was made, and it was visible in his eyes. "Not maybe. Absolutely. I would." He unfolded his arms. It was time to stop. No time for closedness. Take it all in. Lay it all out.

we drink the poison our minds pour for us
and wonder why we feel sick
Most of her days inside the castle walls were boring. Ever since their fathers sudden ‘death’ the twins had to manage a city. Her brother had to manage a city. And she helped. Oh she loved doing so. Brooding, calculating her plans. Maybe a bit to much if she would ever admit it. She had always been the one with the brains, while Rhysand was more of the brawn. After all she was small, slender and not entirely made for anything that had to do with battle, axes and war. Though calculating plans out for a war or fight was something that has been on her list for a while right now. Plans and especially civil war plans interested her. It awakened her intelligent mind to gain from it. Both for her and her brother. That was why she did it. That is why their plan had succeeded.

Tuli seemed to be more open about her invitation this time. Perhaps this was the approach she had to use for him. Which was a complete opposite of how people in the north usually had to be approached. Most of them did not seemed to care wether you had a title as a lady, most of them would give their opinion only by looking at them. Women in fact were seen as weak, not able to fight and definitely not good enough to join anything war like. Men on the other hand seemed to be created by Odin themself. But if you asked Carmilla’s honest opinion. Most of them were rude, dumb and not even able to manage their own lives. The only thing they were good at was drinking, whoring and fighting. Some did not even possess to have a good tactic while fighting. Which made them even worse.

She smiles vague again Alright, it is this way. Losing her gaze on the man she followed the smaller more winding path, and wend off the path after a few more meters. Moving away a large branch in front of her as she shortly gazed back. So.. she spoke when moving herself between the plants, trees and layers of snow. Are you travelling for a living or were you on your way to another place? she asked him curious. If he was a merchant or anything alike she was already wondering what kind of trinkets he would have. If he would have any at all.

This way. She was very sure of it. As she walked away he frowned. Had a creep just ran into the bushes? When he looked up from the ground again, Carmilla was walking in the exact same direction. Odd, he thought. He could never really see the creeps, but he usually knew they were there. Then he started to walk, pressing the snow to the ground with every step he took. Wherever you are, whatever you do, you always leave a mark. People are alive, which means they have influence over the way things are. Which is why he believed that calamities and harsh weather, aswell as geographical prosperity and good weather, are the arms which mother nature uses to have influence over the world. It made him think. Do creeps see eachother? Do they have influence over anyone and anything, except for himself? Do you have to be seen, to be important? He shook his head. No. The greatest people did their good part to the world without ever being noticed. He couldn't say that for sure ofcourse. Since those people went unnoticed. But he felt it. It was then, that the lady asked him a question. He looked away. He wasn't sure how to answer. He wasn't sure if he wanted to answer. But he had decided that the open way would be the better way, at least, for now. Who knows when that door closes. "I don't need to travel, to live, and I'm never on my way." An outsider would look at him and say: this man travels from place to place. And if that were true, the lady would have been correct in her assumptions. Perfectly understandable assumption. But for someone who would see him.. would know better. "I practice art." Yes, that's perfect.

While she genuily enjoyed the talk with Tuli there were still many questions that lingered in her mind. Yet every time she asked him something he seemed to have his fire back ready. Vague answers one in which she did not knew if it was enough or he was just holding back. So you are like a painter, a singer or a poet? Maybe even all three of them? And again some questions were fired at him. It was not like she could help it. Nowadays with her brother having troubles with other city holders she did not very often speak to other people. So Tuli was a perfect “target”. It took another few turns and a walk over a wooden path until the finally arrived at another part of the garden. We are almost there. she reassured him. Not sure why as he did not seem to know his way around. I’d love to hear what you think of them. They are quite unique.

Assumption that were expected. "I practice the art of living." He explained. "I'm a Philosopher." His words were humble. It was not done, to see oneselver better than another, just for being a Philosopher. While he had to make some turns, and walk over a wooden path, to get to the garden, he thought about how that's what it can be like in an unphilosophic mind. Specific paths that are beautiful, even soothing, but not very efficient or even helpful. Some people would call these things coping mechanisms, but Tuli had never heard of that word before. Sometimes, things, behaviours and people can look and even feel like the best thing. But even your feelings can betray you. Tuli knew this all too well. He looked down at his feet, engaged by the movements they made. Then Carmilla said something again. "Would you like me to tell you what I see, once we're there?" A.. a question? What?! Tuli?! What has this place done to you? Or was it Carmilla? Both? Both is good.

Blacksmith, merchants, vikings, travellers, warriors. Carmilla had seen it all in the north. Yet a philosopher was someone she had never seen nor even met. It was not very common around these borders yet she had read about them in one of her fathers books. The one with a oak brown cover and golden painted letters on it. Written by Socrates if she remembered correctly. And if she recalled the memory she could even feel the brittle parchment paper between her fingers. “Know thyself.” Words soft, almost only a whisper that she should have held onto. It was a shot statement of what she had seen in the philosophers book with the golden letters. The letters that seemed to go on in endless curls and swirls. The one who painted it must have been a true artist. She had many more questions, but for now she remained silence. Until her blue gaze reached for the gate and behind that the ice sculptures.. Almost mesmerised by the beauty of it Tuli seemed to keep her in this world. And so her gaze turned back towards him. A small frown noticeable, but it faded into a subtle smile after. Was he really asking questions now.. I’d love to hear what your thoughts are about it. after all. They were here alone together. It was not something she wanted to share with so many others. Carmilla reached for the dark green gate which she opened and stepped in. Not knowing what he would think about it she stepped aside so he could join her. Or not. Which was totally up to him.

Know thyself. Very good. Anyone who has ever practiced philosophy comes to that conclusion at some point. It's the oldest and most truthful advice there is. One can ever really be at peace, not only by accepting oneself, but most importantly by knowing oneself. The state of awareness. Not only of your surroundings, but also of you. A state of mindfullness that goes deeper. The gate was opened and space was made. It only took a few steps for him to then occupy that space. She was right. They are beautiful. Glowing, but not quite. His eyes went over all he could see, firstly. This moment was too special to give up to any sort of opinioning or talking. He sighed. Good. He walked up to the first one. Someone had carved out of the ice an Elk, standing with his front hooves on a rock. It was looking over at something in the distance. Ready to take it on. Like a true leader. Leaders get first pick at everything. Keyword: get. A leader is picked by the horde. They get the best things, but the tradeoff is that they give up everything, even themselves, for the horde, when they are needed to. Mutually beneficial. "I see a boy. Who has lost his father. A hunter." He folded his arms. "Standing by the fireplace, looking at all his father had hunted over his lifetime. He's sad and proud at the same time. Lost and motivated. Not quite there yet."

we drink the poison our minds pour for us
and wonder why we feel sick
The garden surrounding them, and the ice sculptures that stood fierce in the center of it. It was an amazing sight to see. Especially when you waited long enough to see the sun subtle shine upon them. Sometimes it was like they were actually glowing. And when the ice was thin enough it would cast a rainbow on the ground. As if it was coming to life. However how much she loved surrounding herself with the beauty of it she never dared to share it. Carmilla had never brought anyone to this garden, maybe other people like Tuli had already found it by now, yet she had never seen them. Besides that there were times she actually hoped it would stay hidden. Afraid the sculptures, plants and paths would be damaged.

Her light gaze went back towards Tuli, seeing how fascinated he was by the sculptures made her actually smile. Yet when he gave her a description she looked back at the sculpture. Wondering what she actually saw and what it ment to her. I see she hummed more to herself than to anyone else. His description fitted. Like a glove. And yet she was wondering. What was the maker thinking when he was actually sculpting it? How did he feel, was it sadness, anger or grief? Was the maker the boy standing by the fireplace? So many questions started to stir up her already weary mind. It made her think about her own family and how messed up it was. Would it ever be perfect again? I think it is a good description Tuli. Though I cannot help but wonder that art has to be personal. It has to mean something to you. slowly she moved herself around the sculptures towards a smaller one. A girl. She always imagined. And maybe because it made her think about herself. A girl with many thoughts, and perhaps too much on her sleeve. Like the troubles she had with her parents and brother. I think everyone can make their own personal description of it. Using their own imagination. Wether it is a painting, sculpture or stained glass work.
