Even a blizzard like this one could push Tuli into a cave. He wasn’t thinking about his forced shelteredness right now though. He was taking care of an eagle, who had been wounded by a careless hunter. For a big man as he is, he was very careful in the way he was removing the arrow from the eagle’s wing. The whole scene looked divine, for behind them the small cave had a wall on which a thousand small crystals were growing. It gave the room a particular light. On his arms, Tuli had some wounds from scratching and pecking. Some of them more vicious than others. Why the eagle was calm now, even Tuli didn’t know. The only thing he knew was that he was going to make sure this eagle would be put out of his misery. He would tend to his own wounds later. He carefully took the wing with one hand, and gently pulled on the arrow with the other. The eagle struggled a bit, pecked halfheartedly at Tuli and then lay down his head again. It was over. Tuli put some rags over the wound, to stop the bleeding. It was time to take a look at his own wounds. The mere presence of the crystals seemed to take a lot of the pain away. The cave, sighed with relief, through Tuli. All was going to be as it was supposed to be. The crystals lay down to sleep, and their glow grew dimmer.

He had no idea what had driven him to the highlands. The only thing he could say, was that his heart probably would’ve started racing in his chest. He never had dared to go out in a blizzard before, knowing the cold would probably kill him or the wind could knock him down easily. The fear was still there now, but he knew he couldn’t die from something silly as the cold, not from a blizzard anyway. The thought was enough to make his lips curl into a grin. While there were enough disadvantages on being an undying, there were also enough advantages. No one would be able to knock him down again, unless it was one of the other undying. Or unless he let them to pretend he was still normal.

The smell of blood hit him like a bullet, and for a moment, the man stopped walking to take the smell in. Blue eyes slid over his surroundings while he moved forward. He followed the smell of blood until he reached a cave and carefully, he peeked inside. It wasn’t a good idea to startle a wounded animal, something he had learned firsthand. Slowly, Aloysius moved into the cave, but he kept a safe distance from the man who was sitting inside. ”You’re bleeding.” He pointed out the obvious while he tilted his head to the side. Observing the man in front of him, trying to find out if he was a threat or not.

It was only later that he noticed the eagle too, not too far away from the other man. It almost seemed like he had taken care of the animal, trying to heal the birds wing. The blue of his eyes had darkened a little with the smell of blood, hunger gnawing at him. For now, he managed to keep the hunger -and the voice in his head- at bay. He wasn’t here to hurt someone, let alone kill them.

He did not see anyone look inside of the cave, for he was not resting his eyes upon the cave entrance. Yet, he did feel a sort of presence. He did not know whether it was a human being, an animal, or a little creep. Regardless of what it was, or wasn't, he started to speak. He kept wrapping his arms. He did not look up. "A paradise or an abyss is a transcendant concept, moreso than an actual place. For it is not existing, it is created. Formed by one's own choices. Your life, makes your life. You will live, as you are. Imprisoned or free. By your own doing." He mulled over his own words. You can't always simply think up an answer, or a piece of wisdom. Sometimes you have to say it. Hear it. See if it makes sense. And to him, it did. The man who builds a house in the rain, will be dry for the rest of his life. The man who hides and waits, will have to sulk for the rest of his life. It was what they as a species had always done. Cities did not come out of nowhere. Things can be very uncertain. Scary to some. It is the decision to act, however, that is the cure. Decide what you must be, and be it. In practice, not that easy for everyone. Yet, there is a shimmer of hope. For there is a choice to make. One is never completely helpless.

The man tilted his head a little to the side when the man began to speak. Brows furrowed into a frown, showing his confusion. He opened his mouth to say something in return, but quickly shut it again. What did one say to words like that? It was not that his life had become better since he had become an undying. True, there were advantages, but also enough disadvantages.

The smell of blood still hang in the air and he had to hold his breath if he didn’t want to give in to the temptation of draining the man in front of him. ”I don’t believe people always have a choice. Sometimes things happen without us having anything to say about it.” He had least managed to say. Aloysius still didn’t dare to walk closer into the cave, keeping a safe distance. It was not like he had a choice when they had kidnapped him. It hadn’t been his own choice that they had drained him and turned him into a monster.

He slowly moved forward while he blue eyes slid over his surroundings. It was after a few seconds, that they fell on the eagle. ”Did you save it?” He nodded towards the bird while he linked his fingers together behind is back.It was easier to control himself that way, to hold himself back.

A human responded. He heard it. Then he mulled it over in his mind. He came to the conclusion that, whatever happens, a person still has the choice as to how one handles the situation. He didn't know yet, but the man in the cave with him actually was about to do that. Tuli leaned his head backwards and looked up at some crystals on the ceiling, while the other person stepped to the Eagle, making sure he wouldn't be enticed. That was his choice. But Tuli didn't say all that before, to start a discussion. No, he just felt that that was the right time to say it, to the right pair of ears to hear it. "He saved himself." Without looking at the other person, he picked up the arrow that lay next to him. "I have merely undone him from the wood in his wing." Now he held out the arrow, finally looking at the person in front of him. He looked like a young man. However, looking is very different from seeing. Unfortunately Tuli didn't see very much yet. Maybe the crystals didn't want him to. Maybe they were protecting him. Maybe they were protecting the other. In a way, all three beings in the cave were wounded.
