One of the guards knocked on the closed door of her office and Freyja lowered her feather, making sure the ink didn’t leak in the letter she had almost finished writing. The man walked over to her desk and told her a certain guest had arrived at the castle and was waiting outside of the gates. Freyja hummed and ordered to let her in the courtyard so her horse could be taken care of. The guard left and the red-haired lady quickly finished up writing the letter, sealing it and putting it on the pile of finished work. She then raised from her chair, walking over to the hallway, ready to go meet her guest. She knew exactly who it was that was being brought into the courtyard. The guards would bring her inside the castle, even in summer it was freezing cold outside, and she had to admit she was slightly nervous for this one. She had met the woman before and they weren’t exactly friends. Freyja never really liked it when people came into her castle to check on how she was doing, which it kinda was too.

I've spent a lifetime running, and I always get away
With high pace Vesper rode towards her destination. Over the years that she had resided in The North, she had made it a priority to know the roads and different places that it harboured. Not that there was much to discover in this part of Avalance, but still. If she ever needed to escape somewhere, at least she knew the ways. Vesper was a skilled equestrian, having practised her entire life. Sometimes having to escape a faith worse than death. As spies were often not welcomed with open arms, anywhere really.
Luckily for her, the destination finally came into view. Vesper was going to pay a visit to House Skarsgård. Even though she had let their lady known that she needed supplies, she was actually there to pick up a document. Vesper hardly ever picked something up in person, unless it was of such importance that she didn't trust it with a carrier. Not that this was any of Lady Skarsgård's business. And should she get curious, the document was written in a way that was incomprehensible for others. Also, Vesper had a reputation of not responding kindly to other people snooping around.
Vesper was secretely quite happy when she finally arrived after the journey. Not that it showed, it was almost as if the cold did her already pale skin good. She was greeted by a few servants and guard, who thankfully took her horse and belongings away. It was nearly dinner time, but Vesper wanted to greet the Lady of the House before that. After making sure every hair was still in place, she followed the guard that led her, carefully paying attention to the details of the castle. While she was here, it wouldn't be the worse thing to check up on what was going on with House Skarsgård nowadays.

Hearing the guard speak out the name of the dark-haired woman made her swallow. She wasn’t exactly looking forward to meeting her again. There was just this aura around the woman she didn’t particularly like. Freyja knew she had to let her in the castle. She was doing her job and she wasn’t planning on giving House Freyr the wrong idea about her and her intentions. After the guard had left, she raised her hand and brushed her red hairs back, taking in a deep breath before she reached for a fur and wrapped it around her shoulders. Her study was being kept warm by a fireplace, the hallways were more chilly.
Her footsteps echoed through the empty hallways as she made her way towards the main hall, where her guards would’ve let Vesper in by now. Shadows were casted on the walls as the Lady walked past, already thinking over a couple of things she could tell the woman and things she could not. Freyja took in one last breath before she turned around the corner and made her way into the hall, noticing the woman waiting there. ”Vesper,” she greeted the woman with a nod as she walked closer to her to properly greet her. ”It has been a while,” she added, forcing a little smile on her face, though it quickly disappeared again.

It had been a while since Vesper last visited House Skarsgård. She didn't have to wonder if much had changed. Should the House have made any important decisions strategy wise, or should it have behaved out of the usual, Vesper would have known. Her network kept her updated on all matters she deemed important in Avalance. Over the last years it had focused itself on the northern region of Avalance, but she had a general overview of the entire land. House Skarsgård never really drew much attention to itself, but it was never wrong to make a visit every now and then. Solely for supply purposes, of course.
Upon arriving Vesper silently followed the guard that led her through the castle. The woman took in every detail she could, as observant as she usually was. The hallways were more chilly than those in Caer Scion, but Vesper didn't mind. Sometimes she questioned how she was born south, seeing how much better the northern climate agreed with her. Her footsteps echoed as she strode through the halls. Vesper had an unique appearance with her dark hear and her sharp facial structures. Add her signature walk and secretive demeanor to that and most heads in the room usually turned. Wether it was in fear or awe, she couldn't care less.
She arrived in the main hall after which it was waiting untill Lady Freyja would grace her with her presence. Thankfully it didn't take long. While observing the hall she heard footsteps approach, and her name being called. The dark-haired woman slowly turned around, and silently took in the Lady in front of her. For a split second her eyes narrowed, after which a polite smile appeared on her face. "Lady Skarsgård," she spoke and made a respectful nod towards her. "A long time indeed." She echoed as she laid her hands together. "How have you been?" They both knew the small talk was just out of policy. Vesper was skilled at playing mindgames, which she would undoubtedly do, no matter of her intentions. For Lady Freyja's sake she hoped that the Lady had thought about what and what not to say to her.

The sound of her footsteps echoed through the empty halls of her castle. Some torches were put up against the walls so that she wouldn’t trip over a stone that might have shifted over the years. It cast strange shadows upon the walls, almost as if they were dancing while she was walking towards someplace close to hell. Those dark thoughts only showed more how not ready she was for the meeting she was about to have.
Freyja eyed the white fur that was covering the body of the dark-haired woman, something most people that lived in the cold northern region wore on a daily basis. She herself had a darker colored pelt, which once had been a wolf roaming the snowy forests. Her eldest brother had caught it for her, and a woman in the castle had made it into the warm fur she was wearing at this very moment. It was the only thing she had left from her brother and she cherished it by wearing it all the time. She had a couple of other furs, yet this one was her favorite. It still looked as beautiful as a few years ago, when the wolf had been freshly killed.
The red-haired woman nodded back. It indeed had been quite a long time since the two had spoken and Freyja couldn’t really say she had missed the woman. She was like a snake, lurking in the hallways of her castle, gathering information wherever she could. No, having her around wasn’t fun. Not at all. The woman asked how she had been. ”Good. I assume you have heard I’m getting married soon.” Vesper heard everything, but at least this was a good thing. She knew by now not to mention certain things and had chosen her words carefully. Marrying the love of her life wasn’t something she intended to keep to herself. Everybody could know, including Vesper.

House Skarsgård had never caused too much trouble in their daily operations or public life. At least, not since Vesper had settled in the Highlands. It was a small house, and it didn't really seem to care for political games or getting themselves more power then necessary. This made Vesper's visit to the house rare, which could be seen as a good sign. She considered the house lucky because of this. When Vesper visited a place often, it usually meant that they were either keeping something from her she was trying to uncover, or that they had something she needed -or rather wanted-. Either way wasn't particularly good.
While waiting on the lady of the house, Vesper carefully administered all the details in the hall. Thankfully lady Freyja didn't keep long, because there wasn't much to see. Upon hearing her name Vesper slowly turned around. It didn't take her long to as to say 'screen' the lady in front of her. It had been a while since they'd last seen each other, but Freyja hadn't changed a bit. She only matured, which was good Vesper supposed.
When the lady answered that she was well and getting ready for her marriage, a small, polite smile appeared on Vespers face. Of course she had already heard about the marriage. It wasn't a very interesting one, and seemed to be out of 'love'. "Ah yes, of course," she spoke hummingly. "How is your dear fiancée? Out hunting I presume?" She asked, not particularly interested in the answer. Not that it showed of course. Vesper was a master in keeping up an act, and this was like child's play. Small talk was more of a hurdle to get to an actual deeper kind of conversation than it was out of actual significance for her. If only she could look inside a person's head; it would make her job much easier. "Lady Freyja, if I may ask," she spoke while she turned towards the lady. "When should we be heading for dinner? I'm sure you can understand that I'm absolutely parched from the journey." She softly layed a hand on her stumoch, as if she was hungry. Wether it was for food or something she considered of actual importance, no one knew
