The war had brought a few things, lots of wounded, his sister now queen from Ashax. Yet Cahir didn’t know how he had felt about everything. It was weird, the crown prince coming with them. The whole thing smelled funky but he tried not to think of it too much. Just kept do himself while his wounds were healing as well. Keeping an eye on his family and those that fell under him. But it wasn’t doing it for him. No. Cahir still hadn’t found the ones he had been looking for. He hadn’t found the children of his sister. Not that he had actively searched during the preparations of the war and after, but it was nagging at him. His sister might have what she wanted, that leading position over her own country since Ashax had now been proclaimed one. But that didn’t mean that she had everything her heart yearned for. Finding those kids would be the topping on the cake. And truth be told, he didn’t belong in this city. Never had. Cahir always had been a wanderer and he would always stay one.

That’s why he now found himself in the docks of Asherah. Making way to the last boat that would leave Asherah to Avalanche, Faolan’s ship. Cloaked by the shadows of the night and a hood pulled over his head he had gotten aboard the ship by climbing on it. Making his way to the cargo hold when he slipped from crate to crate hiding behind it from prying eyes. Just hoping that he would be able to catch a ride to the main land.

So this is how liberty dies, with thunderous applause.

From all people, he didn’t think his aunt to be the first one to see. To have an actual Aldyr here to come and get him. He didn’t even expect anybody. He had prepared himself a ship that would leave over a week or so but his aunt and uncle had been quicker. Part of him wanted to believe his father send him but he smothered that thought. The king would never send his own family, he would send guards. And that was the worst part of all of it, to have them here. A realization that coming home would be worse then he thought it would.

It late at night when Faolan and his family walked onto the ship. It hadn’t Aldyr’s banners. It was just a normal anonymous ship. The guards who were on it smiled at him, welcoming him back, apologizing for the loss of his mother. All words he didn’t want to hear. He promised himself to be stronger than this. He needed to if he wanted to keep his family safe. But that would at least take two more weeks. Two more weeks where he was alone with his thoughts, on a ship that slowly sailed home again. Faolan lowered down to the cargo hold to find himself something to drink. He didn’t even care how he would end this night. He just wanted to forget. But as he passed one of the cradles he noticed somebody hiding. Faolan stepped back, reaching for a sword he no longer had and a dagger he lost. ‘Guards.’ He commanded almost coldly. ‘Who are you?’ He immediately asked. He didn’t look like a servant, servants wouldn’t be hiding. He didn’t seem poor either. One of the guards came down, immediately drawing his sword as he saw the stranger. ‘Why are you hiding here?’ All very simple questions he hoped to get an honest answer to.
They either want to kiss you, kill you or be you.

It came as no real surprise that someone would come for the Crown Prince. Or well maybe it did. He had heard rumors about what had gone down with the king, though he didn’t chose to believe those just yet. He wanted to talk to his sister about it but with how busy she was right now there was no time. He had left her a letter to why he was leaving. Knowing that Zehirah of all placed would understand why he needed to go so badly. If anything she was his sister and she knew his way of thinking more than anyone. They’d meet again, one day when he hopefully returned with her children.

Cahir was hiding behind the crates, just waiting until the silence below decks returned so he could go deeper into the cargo hold and hide out the long journey to Avalance. But as he spotted the Prince in the darkness he shortly bit his lip. Alright then. No more hiding. Yet, he knew that he wouldn’t be recognized or that they would have a tough time with doing that. His hair had been cut by a friend, mainly for this purpose so no one would actually suspect him of being an Illeon. But now that he came face to face with the young Prince he wasn’t going to lie. That wasn’t who he was, and that wasn’t who he had become during the war. As the guards came closer he straightened his back. He could fight his way out of here, yet what was the purpose. So he grabbed the two sickles and placed them down on the ground in front of him including a silver dagger as well. ’My name is Cahir Illeon, the brother of Lady Zehirah.’ The man started. Knowing damn well that he could’ve lied his way out of here but he wasn’t a liar never had been. ’This is the last ship that leaves for the mainland. I have no ill-intent. I just need to look for someone on the mainland and this struck me as my best opportunity your majesty.’

For Faolan it felt like months. Even if he was hardly a week here on dry land. The trip over here had been one confrontation after the other. This new queen was almost nicer then his father had been when he was on his knees. His mother died, Bas died, the people on that ship had looked at him like they wanted to throw him overboard any given second. To be lonely with your thoughts in such a moment wasn’t anything near good. And then there was that stranger trying to motivate him to kill his father. He didn’t know with what attitude he would arrive home but he know for sure it wouldn’t be the same then when he started this whole war.

The man hiding after the crates didn’t look anywhere close to being a servant or a poor man. Faolan his eyes went over his rather expensive clothes. He carried weapons, his hair seemed freshly cut. And he was on an Aldyr ship. The war was just over and some usurper tried to get on the ship. To do what? Kill Faolan? Did Zehirah send him? As soon as the guard came down the man put down his two sickles. Faolan looked down at the weapons before he looked back up. Cahir Illeon … he was the brother of Zehirah? The guard took away the weapons, giving them to Faolan who studied them for a second. He had no ill intent. Sure. ‘Your sister came to Dragonwatch with an army, she used explosions to flatten the city with the ground. Why should I believe a word from what you are saying?’ He said with a cold look. He looked aside to another guard coming down. ‘Get him from,’ but as he wanted to finish the sentence he felt the ship moving. To late. ‘Chain him.’ He then ordered. ‘Seem you get the ride after all. What orders did you get?’ He asked. How he missed Glaedr right now. He had orders right? Kill Faolan? Spy on the family. The only thing that bothered him was his honesty. Why telling who you really were?
They either want to kiss you, kill you or be you.

As the prince eyed him, he waited. He just waited for the man to respond back to him. Maybe he had given away all of his cards here or maybe Faolan would come to his senses that he in fact didn’t have any ill intentions. Only time would tell in the end. But to be fair he wasn’t expecting a warm welcome, but he had given up his weapons which was a token of good will for sure. As the guards took away his weapons he hummed softly, that was the safest bet for all of them yet it put him in a very bad position here. But right now, he was at the mercy of the young Prince.

The words that were spoken made him nod softly, Faolan was in no way wrong about this. ’That choice is yours, but what so called enemy would give up all his weapons out of his own? My sister did that yes, but that was my sister wasn’t it?’ Though he wouldn’t waste more words on that. The plan of attacking Dragonwatch hadn’t come from him, not in the way it had been done but Faolan would surely never believe a word that was coming out of his mouth. Cahir spotted the other guard and softly hummed, a serious disadvantage here but he could fight if he needed too. When he felt the ships move he hummed. Good, they were on their way. Not so good for the Prince who had wanted to throw him off of the ship. But as his order came he sighed, sticking out his arms in front of him. If the young buck wanted to play it like this, then he could play all he wanted. ’There were no orders. But since you’re not going to believe that. I was just seeking passage to look for lost family members.’ And that was all that would be said about that.

So this is how liberty dies, with thunderous applause.

A stranger on his ship. An Illeon of all people. He wanted to throw him back off the ship but as he planned on giving that command he felt the ship slip into open water. Which meant he would have to come to Dragonwatch … which meant he would be here on a ship, with three Aldyrs, for which one felt already frustrated enough as it was. His honesty was the only curious thing about all of this. Why be so honest if he would want to try and kill one of them, or spy back in Dragonwatch.

As he spoke Faolan hardly moved an inch. One of the guards came back with chain he started installing against one of the wooden structures of the boat. ‘Yes, that was your sister.’ He admitted. ‘But she is your sister, which means you probably have some similar attention to hers.’ He noticed, nodding to one of his guards as they started to chain the man. Cahir let them, willingly putting his hands in front of him. Faolan had no idea what he was trying on achieving here. Did he want Faolan’s trust? Only to stabb him back later. If this whole war didn’t found place that would be an option. But how could he trust the people that killed his mother? That attacked his city? As he answered the question Faolan crossed his arms before his chest. ‘There are other Illeon’s in Dragonwatch?’ He asked between clenched teeth. Faolan wasn’t himself. He hardly showed any emotion, tried to distance himself as much as possible in this situation. If there were other Illeon’s in Dragonwatch, what was their involvement in all of this then?

Cahir didn’t see this as a mistake. No, if anything he was complying to the wishes of Faolan. Which he would do for as long as the Prince wanted that. It wasn’t something he had foreseen, but if he had to do this all to gain passage to the main land he would. Because his duty towards finding those that had been lost was greater than anything. With a calm gaze he looked at the other as he had willfully put down his arms, letting them chain him like he was some kind of beast. If anything he had wanted to be caught by them, so this was just something he would had to endure as simple as that.

’Half sister.’ Cahir hummed calmly looking at Faolan. Shortly glancing at the chains that were being put around his wrist. This would get uncomfortable really quick that he knew. If anything he had hoped that would just keep him above deck so he could do all those tedious tasks, so that they instead could relieve their crew for a bit. But that wouldn’t be happening now would it? ’Not Illeon’s my lord.’ Cahir hummed, looking at him and shortly tilting his head. Not a lie since those people didn’t even know of their lineage. His eyes shortly shot to the guards and he sighed. This wasn’t going completely according to plan but well that didn’t bother him in the slightest way right now. ’I’m not here to do whatever it is that you are thinking about your Majesty. I’m just here as a man, looking for his family.’

Half-sister. So he was a bastard? A legitimized one. Or maybe he just carried the name around even when it wasn’t his to carry. Faolan looked at how he willingly let the guards chain him. He couldn’t have him wandering over the ship with three Aldyr’s. He probably would understand that. ‘What are you to her?’ He asked with a look over the other’s body. Was he a spy, her best fighter, a knight, or just a family member that didn’t have much say. Faolan wasn’t in the mood of playing games, the other seemed to understand that while willingly answering every question he asked.

When he stated that he was looking for family members in Dragonwatch Faolan couldn’t resist the thought that it maybe wasn’t over yet. That just maybe he would come back into a city he hardly recognized. What if there was a secret attack going on now. But it weren’t Illeon’s apparently. Not that it made him feel any better. ‘Who are they then?’ He asked. As he now stood chained one of the guards stationed himself, keeping guard. As Cahir spoke again Faolan looked back, a short empty smile crossing his lips quickly. ‘Your half-sister just burned my city, took me captive, killed my mother. I assume you realize I’m not trusting any stranger right now, how willing they are.’ He explained neutrally. ‘You will be escorted back to Dragonwatch and you will stay imprisoned until I have made out what to do with you.’ He announced. But he would be taken care of. After all, Zehirah had done the same for him. He would get food, clothes, and fresh air.

’I am her brother, and a knight and her master of War.’ Cahir calmly explained to the other. Willingly answering his questions because he truly had no bad intentions here. But he could understand why the other was cautious with one of them on his ships. In the end his sister had attacker his city, his family, slaughtered his mother and men for that reason. So yes, he understood the hostility. Yet, maybe a part of him was hoping that with him coming forward like this he would earn some credit with the prince. But he knew that something like that wasn’t likely to happen, though that didn’t keep him from trying. In the end it was just who he was. Maybe it wasn’t the smartest move of him to state what he actually did for his sister, but if anything he was willing to take the fall for his family if he had too.

’Family of mine, from my mother’s side. I am a family man and I’ve been looking for them for quite a while now. I know that they are on the mainland, just not where they are exactly.’ Cahir hummed calmly looking at Faolan. It was wrong to talk about family to the other man. Certainly after everything that was done to him by his sister. But maybe, just maybe Faolan could find a way to understand this. If not, he would suffer the consequences on his own, but that was a price he gladly paid. ’I get that. I wasn’t expecting a nice treatment here your majesty.’ The man spoke in a calm manner. Imprisoned, well it wasn’t as worse as he actually imagined. ’I understand. If anything, if you decide to kill me that’s your call your majesty. I would understand why you would make a decision like that.’ Though maybe he could be of some value to the other. ’Just don’t throw my weapons overboard, that’s my only ask hide them away if that pleases you. But keep them on this ship.’

A brother … a knight … and her master of War. Faolan slowly looked aside to one of his guards who seemed to be as confused as he felt. What was a master of War voluntarily doing on an Aldyr ship? Why would he go oversea to look for lost family members, to begin with? Did he not needed to be by his sister’s side, contributing to the next big war? ‘Master of war.’ He finally repeated, looking back at the man. ‘Why would you leave her side?’ Yes, he needed to find family but why would she let him go if he was such a valuable asset? For Faolan this was valuable. He would able to tell him things, learn him things only somebody out of Ashax would be able to do. His honesty was still bothering him, he didn’t understood the actions, unless he was speaking the trust and wasn’t planning on infiltrating the Aldyr’s a second time.

When he started explaining exacly what he was planning on doing Faolan lightly leaned against the wall of the ship. If this had been Faolan a few weeks back he would almost offer his help. But now he only looked at his prisioner. ‘How many?’ He asked. How many of those half Illeon’s walked around there. Not that he much cared, Avalance was big, they probably weren’t packed together in Dragonwatch. As Cahir voiced his understand Faolan only nodded. ‘If you had been a few weeks earlier this all wouldn’t have been nessesary.’ He nodded to the chains. ‘But as your new queen treated you with respect I will do the same for you.’ He then confessed. He didn’t want to know what would happen if she found out that her master of war was gone, imprisoned by an Aldyr. His eyes went to the weapons one of the guard was holding. He nodded in agreement. ‘I’m not planning on killing you,’ he paused, looking at the man. ‘there is to much value to do so.’ He followed. If there was anything this man needed he could get it. Faolan was maybe different but he still acted hororable. He wouldn’t loose his weapons, nor his life.

Cahir calmly nodded looking up at the Prince. This was that pivotal moment. He had made clear who he was, for the other to decide what he wanted to do with him. It was as simple as that. Now he was entirely in the other’s hand, awaiting his decision on the matter. If anything, he was trying to get some insight on his mind here. But Faolan was smarter than that. Keeping whatever he might be thinking for him alone, not really a crack showing in the mask he was most likely wearing here. ’I am my own man, always have been your majesty. I’ve never been the kind of person to stay long in one place.’ The truth again. For a brief moment he glanced at the guards that were still in the hold with them. A show of power if anything. But he was prepared to give up his power completely, which he had already done for a part by giving up his weapons to the other. Truly putting his life in the hands of a young man whose life they had twisted upside down.

’Two.’ The man hummed shortly. Information that was privileged for all who wanted to hear. ’Two cousins from my side of the family.’ He eluded a bit more as he shortly stared down at his hands. If anything this was going to be a long journey home that much he did know. For a moment he had hoped for a more comfortable way of traveling, or well at least not be tied up that was. But he wasn’t going to complain, his head was still on his shoulders. Shortly he raised a brow at his words, nodding eventually. ’Nothing I wouldn’t do if I was in your position.’ Because if anything, having an enemy aboard was always something that could turn out into a surprise. He politely bowed his head for the other when he said that he would be treated with respect here. Yet, when the Prince spoke of value he frowned. ’Value?’ Captive of a war that was fought, enemy side nonetheless. Off course he held value, but that didn’t mean that he would give up on the plans of his sister. Not that he actually knew any of them. What he did know, was possible other attack plans yes. But those were ancient history.
