THE RISING SUN
sets the horizon ablaze。

There was one specific reason that got him out of bed just before dawn. Watching the sun rise gave him a feeling of calmness. It brought him in the right mindset to live another day. He was always right on time to still see Yunuen, who was guarding the souls of those who had left this world. Keeping them safe as they basked in His soft light. Some of the brighter stars were still visible too, and it brought a smile to his lips for just a second. And then, Solista appeared just above the horizon.

The sky turned into the familiar soft red colour. She announced the beginning of a new day. One that would come with new opportunities. The Sun conquered the dark, as it always did. He found himself drawn to that idea. How a new dawn would announce a new era. One day, Solista would climb the sky, shining down on a new empire. He would be King, but only because of Her blessing.

The rays of light hit his face gently, and even with the cold wind, he could feel the warmth. A couple more minutes he watched the sun climb. After that, he closed his pale blue eyes for a second and inhaled deeply. When he heard footsteps approaching though, he looked aside. If he hadn’t known any better, he would’ve thought a brown bear had appeared on top of the wall to come and devour him. Lucky for him, it was just quite an impressively large man, wearing what appeared to be the fur of a bear. He wouldn’t be surprised if the man had slaughtered it with his bare hands.

let me die first
or i will die twice

Tyrr was one to rise especially early. In the darkest hours of the morning, he could sometimes already be found roaming the White Woods. He was a hunter, after all, and the early bird caught the worm. He’d set up various traps the morning before and was sure to return to the Skarsgård castle with a worthy amount of prey as he usually did. His betrothed was receiving a particularly important guest these days, none other than the High Lord of the Highlands. While Tyrr was a fervent advocate of House Freyr, politics weren’t exactly his forte. After all, Freyja was the head of House Skarsgård, so he was happy to leave all diplomatic matters to her for now.

The sun started to come up, colouring the sky a breath-taking amalgamation of yellows, oranges, reds, and blues. The pure, untouched white snow reflected the light with great intensity and Tyrr almost felt sorry to violate it with his own footsteps. He trotted back to the castle, his catch consisting of five dead, cold rabbits that were slung over his shoulder. His legs carried him back home almost automatically. He’d walked the route so many times by now, it seemed to come naturally to him these days. Once he reached the fortress, he stomped the excess snow off of his boots and made his way down the familiar hallways of the castle. He already was an imposing man, but the addition of his thick bear fur and the dead rabbits only added to his immense stature. Tyrr was somewhat surprised – although that didn’t show at all on his inexpressive face – to see a young man in their hallways. It took him a few seconds to realize who it must be, but then he immediately bowed his head. “My Lord,” he solemnly spoke in his low voice, not saying anything else until he was granted the permission to speak. Years and years under servitude to a Lord had made Tyrr quite the polite and loyal servant, sometimes to an excess.

THE RISING SUN
sets the horizon ablaze。

The transition between night and day gave him the strength to tackle the challenges put on his path. He felt recharged, even after a rough night of sleep. Regardless of how he got out of bed, this one little ritual helped him to start the day in the right way. At night, he would look towards the sky once more. It was then that he felt closest to his father. With the stars shining bright, accompanied by the Moon, he often went over the decisions he had made that day. Trying to figure out if his father would agree with what he was doing. The man had been honourable and just, but his reign had been peaceful compared to the path Apollo would take.

They had one thing in common. They both wanted the best for their people. Because even though it was his dream to be King and restore his family name and bloodline, his priority would always be the well-being of his people. Without them, he would be King to no one, no King at all. He truly believed that he could change the lives of the Northerners for the better by liberating them from the yoke of the South. Now he could only hope his people would realise he was doing this in their best interest. They were loyal by nature. Even to a Lord they had never met. Just like the man he ran into now. From the second he made the connection and recognised him as the man he was, he lowered his head in respect.

In return, he nodded his head shortly as well. ”That is a nice catch you have there”, He spoke, gesturing towards the rabbit carcasses hanging over his shoulder like a lurid decoration. ”I take you caught those yourself?” He asked. He had a vague guess who this man could be, purely based on the description he had been given by one of his people. Engagements in other Houses, no matter how small, were officially recorded in the archives of Caer Scion, and if he was not mistaken, this was the fiance of Lady Freyja.

Most of the matters that went on in Caer Scion were beyond Tyrr’s knowledge. He didn’t concern himself much with politics, locally or nationally. He simply followed tradition, and tradition prescribed him to be loyal to the true heir of both the North and all of Avalance; Apollo Freyr. Tyrr was a typical Highlander in most aspects. He had a severe disdain for anything that lived south of the border and, ideally, he would see House Freyr occupying the throne. Unfortunately for him, his betrothed seemed to be quite fond of southerners. Every now and then he’d voice his opinion of her, but she seemed to want to keep up her southern alliances. And while she was still the head of House Skarsgård, Tyrr considered her free to do so. As long as her loyalties were still in the right place when push came to shove, he didn’t mind it too much. He couldn’t say he appreciated the decent number of southern guests they had to entertain, though.

Now, Lord Apollo Freyr was standing within the halls of their hold, much to Tyrr’s surprise. He wasn’t one for keeping up appearances, so the fact that he looked like a savage covered in furs, snow, and dead animals in front of nobility didn’t bother him too much. The High Lord complimented him on his catch, to which Tyrr politely nodded in response. “I did,” he replied to Lord Freyr’s assumption. Tyrr wasn’t a very talkative man, but he felt like he had to say something. “The catch is reasonable here in the summer.” In the winter, however, it was nearly impossible to find decent prey in the White Woods. “I could skin and prepare one for you, my Lord,” he asked, motioning to one of the limp rabbits slung over his shoulder. “If you haven’t had breakfast yet.” He had always been told to receive guests well, and this was pretty much the only way he knew how.
