Tonight was perfect. Clouds covered the night sky, leaving the ship in eternal darkness. Six men and one cat, a few hands full of rats, but most importantly: her necklace. She wasn’t going to accept anyone stealing from her. Even when her captain told her not to get herself into trouble, she had left her room in the depth of night. It wasn’t hard to find the docked ship, even in complete darkness. One man would be sitting there, watching the bay and anyone who planned to dock the ship. Nyssa knew better than to try and enter the conventional way. No, she would take a different route.

Swimming up to the ship wasn’t the hard part. She had seen this ship so many times, that she had already figured out an entrance route. She easily climbed the side of the ship, looking at the places where she expected someone to be. Five men, scattered across the ship. Three were asleep, one was at the front, so one would be roaming the top deck. She would either have to find him, take him out, and make this quick, or she could avoid him entirely. Hopefully, luck would allow the second.

Water dripped on the wooden planks as she slowly walked over, using the darkness to her advantage. If she couldn’t see them, they wouldn’t be able to see her either. She would just need to be extremely quiet. She managed to sneak through the door and use her lock-picking skills to open it, hearing it creak as she pushed the door. For a moment, she could feel her breathing get stuck in her throat. After a moment of silence, she pushed on, heading inside and following the wall until she finally found where she wanted to be: the captain’s cabin.

The audacity of some people. Disgusting. Stealing treasure that was meant for her and her crew alone, and then telling her to fuck off when she politely -ahum- asked it back. Who did they think they were? And did they really think she would just leave it with that? What kind of message would she be sending to all the other thieves in the Lair if she didn’t act on this thievery! With that thought, the woman had followed the ship away from Kraken’s Lair, keeping a safe distance from it. She would be waiting for the perfect timing to attack, to take back what rightfully belonged to her. Patiently she waited, until this very night. She hid the Red Piranha closeby, out of sight.

With the fog and the darkness of the night as her cover, she and her accompanying crewmembers rowed their way towards the ship. The last few meters they silently let the waves of the sea bring them closer to the boat, until they came to a stop at it’s side. With ease, they climbed up the side of the ship, one by one, until all of them were present. The woman peaked around the corner, looking upon the main deck. Three men were asleep scattered over the main deck, one was at the front overlooking the bay. She appointed two of her men to walk up the stairs of the top deck, right before she kicked against a barrel, making a noise that would definitely wake whoever was asleep and alert those who were watching over the bay for potential threats. ”Wake up you little rats!” She spoke with an amused tone in her voice, the woman always enjoyed being a little theatrical. ”I’ve come to claim what’s mine.” In one smooth movement she took out her sword, as she turned her attention on where she knew the captain would be sleeping. Time to make the rat pay.

Now my neck is open wide,
begging for a fist around it.
Already choking on my pride,
so there is no use crying about it.

Far would he be from the first to underestimate her. It had happened on multiple occasions, for a multitude of reasons. Some because she was a woman, others because she was part of Charles’ crew. People would think that she was naught without the protection of her captain, a man that was feared by those who had a stomach too weak to be found at sea. And while Nyssa would be grateful until her final days, she was no longer depending on the man. Now, she was a pirate in heart and soul. There was no part of her that would ever think of relying on anyone ever again. No, the sea ran in her veins and she would drown whoever thought to underestimate her.

Stealing her necklace had been an incredibly stupid decision and thus, Nyssa would not stand by it. She had made her way on the ship, through the door and into the captain’s cabin. Her eyes closed so she could focus on her other senses, as it was too dark to see anyhow, she made her way to the desk. Luckily, the drawers were unlocked and she was soon rummaging through the stuff as quietly as possible, trying to find the necklace that was rightfully hers.

And right as she found the necklace, the silence was broken. Her hand immediately moved for her sword, until she realized it… wasn’t the captain. Nor his men. A female voice was audible from outside and Nyssa managed to hide behind the desk just as the captain jumped up, screaming some words that should not be repeated. What the fuck was happening here? Was this ship seriously being raided while she was on here?

Talk about bad luck.
