  • The Glade

  • Sapphire Keep

The pride of the Glade is the city that lies in the centre of the sapphire blue lake from which it got its name. Sapphire Keep was built to survive every siege. Being located between the Highlands and the Crownlands, many battles have been fought in the Glade, causing the people to build a fortress to keep them safe. The city is a sight to behold, with buildings coloured in whites and blues to suit the colours of the water. Three giant bridges lead into the Keep, which can be closed in case of danger. In the Glade and especially the Keep, people worship the Sea Serpent, Etro.

  • Ironwood Forest (S)

The Ironwood Forest is green all year round because of the pine trees that reach high into the sky. The floors catch very little sunlight and thus not many shrubs and other small plants grow here. However, there still are many animals that made their home in this forest, most famous the herds of deer and wandering red foxes. For hunting, people of the Glade rather go to the Green Antler, causing the Ironwood of the south to be a perfect spot for the wildlife to recuperate from the harsh winters further up north.

  • The Iron Ridge (S)

To the west of the Glade lies the southern part of the Iron Ridge, a mountain range of fair height, though a lot more forgiving than the Burning Heights of Ashax. Within these mountains, you will find small towns, settled in the small vales between the peaks. Although only sparsely populated, more people live here than in the northern parts of the mountains which reach up to the Frozen Abyss. The Iron Ridge is known for its precious stones and mining towns, as this is the biggest mountain range in Avalance.

  • Serpentine Wetlands

Most of the Glade exists of marshes, swamps, lakes and rivers. The Serpentine Wetlands are the marshy regions that stretch from the Emerald Shallows down to the shores of the Depths of Etro. The Wetland area ranges from flat marshy plains to sparsely forested ones, but all are watery. The roads in these parts are made on the highest points in the landscape, avoiding people getting stuck while travelling. Going off-road can be dangerous, especially for the people that are not used to traversing these lands.

  • Emerald Shallows

The small Emerald River comes down from the Iron Ridge and runs into the Emerald Shallows. This quite shallow lake knows clear waters that are coloured a brilliant emerald green in the sunlight. It is a popular spot for fishing and there are a few small towns around the lake. Because of its colour, the lake is known for some myths, but most people just come to admire its beauty, being so different from the marshy waters in other parts of the Glade and the blues of the Lake Sapphire. North of the shallows lays the small village of Silvershire.

  • The Green Antler (N)

The part of the Green Antler that lies north of the Red Creek is a woodland that is similar to the south, but wetter. Everywhere are small lakes and streams to be found and the most northern part can be described as a swampy area. This does not make it less attractive to wildlife and the biodiversity is very high. While a little harder to traverse, this part of the forest is still very popular for hunting, specifically by the people of the Glade who are used to living in the wetlands. The most notable town in this area is Goldenleaf, from which hunting parties often dispatch.
